+dnast Subscriber² Posted January 19, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted January 19, 2007 Add me to the first-time Xbox owner club. I didn't own any of last gen's consoles (well, I had a Dreamcast for a while) and I didn't really feel like I was missing out on too much. Of course I played them at friends' houses from time to time but I didn't feel the need to have my own. I almost got caught in the 360 hype and bought one at launch, but I waited a few months and realized I still really wanted one even though I didn't like parting with that much money for a console. So I went ahead and bought it, and I must say that I love this box.
neoadorable
tend to agree with dnast...in retrospect the prev generation was quite uninspired, but then we didn't see it like that five years ago and overall there were some good moments. AlphaPrime
Who knows... I think they ask you when you register your 360 - so that could be it. Even then, only half the people have Live, so there's not really a way to track the other half of the market.
Smigit
I was a MS console virgin apon buying the 360. Before that I had the N64 and SNES along with a gameboy or 3. THe household has since gotten a 2nd 360 and a Wii to go with my bros gamecube. The reason I never got the original was the only games that interested me were the 2 halo titles and Fable. Two of those were on PC and Halo 2 is arriving but I grabbed that cheap for the 360 anyway. Since about Mid october I've since picked up about 8 360 titles along with halo 1 + halo 2 for the sake of playing them.
5Forty
Master System - Playstation - Dreamcast - Playstation 2 > Xbox 360 + Live = Magic With all the delays etc surrounding the PS3, I ended up buying a 360 a few months back and have to say its one of the best consoles Ive owned

It's probably based on people who filled out surveys along with statistics from other polling services combined with expert estimations.

AlphaPrime
It's probably based on people who filled out surveys along with statistics from other polling services combined with expert estimations. Yeah, they'd have to survey every single 360 owner worldwide if they wanted the accurate results. I owned the original Xbox and I must say that the Halo series saved it. If it was not for the Halo games, I would have sold it much sooner. While there were a few good exclusives, nothing really stood out for me apart from them. I feel that the GameCube had more quality titles. Never owned a PS2 though, so I can't comment on that.
FreqFace
I'm an Xbox owner, though I initially only bought it because of Halo, I did buy a few games for it (I played Halo 2 and Burnout 3 alot) However, it was near the end of it's life span when I bought it, so I didn't get a massive amount of use out of it (and never used Live on it) The improvement they made with 360 was immense, no wonder it's doing so well. It's such a well thought out console, especially in terms of Live.

I don't know weather it was because my system may have been returned or its just a mistake on Microsoft's part. neoadorable
when was this? you should have contacted those bumbling tech people right away. HexicHD is universally installed on all HDD's. most likely they forget to put it on when installing the drive. but can't you download it from Arcade fro free anyway? +dnast Subscriber² Posted January 22, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted January 22, 2007 Nah, you can't download it for free. It was said that MS would make it available but it never happened. I believe you can get a code from tech support if you call, though.
Agnes Leroy
wow! :woot:  good to know all those years of hard work were all worth it and our customers are happy with the product...  Are you working at Microsoft ? (I think you are..) I sold my PS2 and bought a 360. The first Xbox didn't have enough games for my personal taste. Microsoft is close to winning the console war IMO How do they know they didn't? Corris Veteran Posted January 24, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 24, 2007 Well that's good, but I was thinking about it and wasn't there news saying that the 360 hasn't sold as many as the first Xbox did in its first year or something, so more people had bought an Xbox in this time frame, so that means wile %50 have bought an 360 that had an Xbox, they've also lost half of the original Xbox crowed but gained a different half instead? Just randomly thinking about it, correct me if I've gotten something wrong, I cant remember exactly.
~Greeno~
I'm a first-time owner... I used to have a PS2 for the Final Fantasy games, but i'm a PC gamer in truth... I primarily use my 360 as a Media Center extender unless my mates are round for some Pro Evo 6 :)

Well in America, for the same period: Xbox - 4.6 million Xbox 360 - 4.5 million But yeah, worldwide they're about the same this far in. So I guess you're right, if this figure is correct, over half the people who bought an Xbox during the first year or so haven't bought a 360 yet. Although this may be contributed to the higher price and the lack of a Halo title.

I did forget to leave out that there has yet to be a halo title that would probably lead to a sales explosion of some kind, and hat the half that have yet to get the 360 could simply be waiting.
