Lumines Gets Three

New, low-priced DLC is on the way. Still have that bad taste in your mouth?

January 18, 2007 - Microsoft, still stinging from the negative press Lumines Live received last fall, is trying to make amends. Today, it announced three new, low-cost downloads for Lumines Live for next week.

As IGN previously reported, fans of Lumines Live will see a limited time-only free offering of the Heavenly Star Skin. Gamers can get it starting at 1 am (PST and 9 am GMT), Wednesday, January 24 to February 21, 2007. New band Genki Rockets' song, Heavenly Star, is produced by Q Entertainment's Tetsuya Mizuguchi and was recently nominated Best Song at the 2006 Spike TV Video Game Awards.

Also from January 24 to February 21, the second and third packs, the Vs. Puzzle Pack and the Puzzle/Mission Pack, respectively, each will cost 100 MS Points (80 cents) for Xbox Live Gold tier members. After February 24, the packs will go up in price to 300 MPs ($2.40).

The Vs. CPU Pack enables players to challenge the CPU, choose a new skin that matches the theme of the stage and, if you're good enough and can beat the challenge, you'll earn another skin.

The Puzzle Pack challenges you to create specific shapes for points, and the Mission Pack requires you to clear all the blocks in a given time period. This Puzzle Pack comprises an additional 90 puzzles to solve and 40 missions to clear. For clarification, the first 10 puzzles and missions are included in the Standard Edition. By purchasing this Pack, the total number is 100 puzzles and 50 missions).

At least these are cheap. I haven't played Lumines in a while, though, so I'm not sure I'll get them.

By the way, the article is wrong - 100 MS Points = $1.25 and 300 MP = $3.75.

Only for Gold members? What a load of ****.

From what I've read, it just says that Gold Members can get special promotional pricing for a limited time. Anyone can download them, though.

I don't understand how this is bad news or "gouging," though. While I do personally think that the Base Pack was a bit too expensive, I don't think these are at all.

1. These prices will change in a few months. Currently this is Microsoft's "sale price"

2. Original Pack was overpriced.

3. To experience the full game, it is still, overpriced and full of microtransactions. They still havent announced the song pricing.

It's gouging :D
