2-Yr Extended Warranty Worth $60?

Recommended Posts

Well, since I am returning the 360 back the Best Buy for a second time, I am really concerned on future problems with it once my 30 day return period expires. I know Microsoft has extended the warranty to 1 year, but I really hate the hassle of mailing it back to them to have the problem fixed and then waiting for them to mail it to me. This process has the potential to take months. I am contemplating getting the 2yr extended warranty from Best Buy. This way, if I have a problem 6mo, 12mo, 18mo, etc down the road, I can just bring it into them and they give me a new one on the spot. What do you all think? Thanks.

I would say it is worth it because when I get my stuff from Best Buy especially my car audio i always get the extended warranty because it is to much hassle to mail/ship the product off and have to wait for another one to arrive. So I would recommend you spend the extra $60 to be on the safe side.

I work at Best Buy and I have been debating the same thing as I plan on getting a 360 very soon. In the end, I think I'm going to get it. I don't want to deal with the hassle of having to mail the thing to MS and wait for them to decide what's what.

Totally get the BB one, its over the counter exchange, brand new one, not refurbished. Worth it. if a new model comes out, its yours aswell for like $60.

Say what? I have the BB 2-yr warranty, what do you mean a new model for $60?

He probably means that if it breaks and there is a new model, they'll just replace it with the newer model...

Are you sure their going to give you a brand new one?

I've brought a lot of things with the BB plan and they let their "Geeks" fix it for you.

It's a Product Replacement Plan, not a Product Service Plan.

Even though I bought mine from MS for $50 I now have almost a 3yr warranty on my box so I am not worried about it. BTW if you send them your stuff do you have to ship the HD as well?

isn't that what bestbuy does in the long run? i got a warranty on my sandisk MP3 player, but bestbuy would only allow an exchange within the first 30 days, and after that i would have to mail it to an outside vender, and they send me a replacement.

Bestbuy seems like the middleman to me.. they sell warranty's to people, but don't want to deal with customers returning stuff.. so they tell you to send it to an outside vender and have them worry about it

To quote myself:

You bring it in, you get a new one.

Sounds like a Canadian thing. I've never had to wait to get anything replaced from Best Buy.

Not really :/. I have had no problems with returning things to BestBuy. Its just a quick exchange and go :)

I got it for the Xbox and then later mailed the Xbox back to BB. They sent me a $150 BB gift card which I used to get the Xbox 360. Pay the extra money, you'll be glad you did in the future.
