RevelMore
Okay, i'm pretty sure this is possible and i need some major help to get this to work. Since i just got another 360, i don't have another Wireless antenna (nor do i have the money) i'm trying to run a ethernet cord from my Xbox to my Mac that is connected wirelessly to my Linksys WRT54GS. i was wondering if it is possible to connect to xbox live and how do i do it! Has anybody done it or know how to do it?

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 20, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2007 Not sure if it is possible with the 360, but I can tell you how I do it with a Desktop Mac I have using a Powerbook. Go to System Preferences, Sharing. Click the Internet Tab. Click Start To Start Sharing the connection. Choose which method you want to share with (probably Airport) Choose the method the 360 will be using (Built In Ethernet) Then click on Airport Options. Here you can set up the share name (which is all I used for my desktop), and Encryption of you want to use it, which I think you will have to do so you have a password and WEP key you can enter in the 360. I am thinking that is all you will have to do, and you can figure it out from there. I fully admit my 360 is hard wired using an Ethernet connection, so I never set up Wireless on it, but as I said, this is how I set up my desktop Mac to share the laptop's wireless connection. Also, make sure under Services you have Windows Sharing checked off, as it may matter I am thinking. Then you may also have to play with your Firewall settings Tab as well. Good Luck. RevelMore
I've done those things already. But i can't get pass IP Adress when testing my Xbox Live Connection. I thinking that i going to have to configure my router or my mac to get it to work correctly. No luck so far.

Just double checking, but you are using the IP Address of the laptop when you enter it into the 360 right? Or what are you doing with the 360? Entering the info manually? What about letting it Auto Detect? Again I have never done it, so I am just guessing here. Things like this are always a pain in the ass, no doubt about it. RevelMore
I have tried both actually. I have tried using the ip of the ethernet, and assigning an ip. I just can't get it to connect though.
Sn00pY
It won't work because the xbox won't be able to get DHCP from your Mac. Why can't you run a cable frm your xbox to your router? simple suggestion? cable is like $10 :s

Well, for not having heaps of cable through the stairs & stuff.

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 20, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2007 Maybe because the router is up/downstairs and it's too far away for normal cable. Well, for not having heaps of cable through the stairs & stuff. Exactly. I pretty much had the same problem, and I only live in a two bedroom apartment. My router was in the room just next to my living room where my 360 is, but it wound up being far away. My girlfriend insisted I mad the wire not noticeable, which honestly I agreed with, so I had to drill through 3 walls (the walls between the rooms and then a closet wall) in order to make it all tidy, and I also had to run and secure the cable along the top of the walls. As a result of doing it properly and making it not noticeable, the cable had to be 30ft long if I recall. It was like a 4 hour long project. So I agree, it can just be the router is not in the same room as the 360, and most people just do not want random wires on the floor in their house and/or apartment. Yea i would do that but i would need a really long cable to stretch into the room adjacent to where my Xbox is. Who sells long cat5's anyway? You can get them cheap at computer shows or online. Or if you want to get it like tonight, Best Buy has a 50 foot one for $20. That is way more than you would pay, but still not a complete rip off. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1126591946109
