Transfer 360 saves?

Recommended Posts

Hey I got a 360 now and its always in demand to be played around here so I have decided to get another one. I was curious to know if you can use an external harddrive and transfer saves to it from the first xbox and load them on the second xbox? has anyone tried this?

Thanks

You can use Datel's XSATA or Talismoon's XSATA solutions. More information at 360gamesaves.com as well as X-S. Although, a 360 Memory Unit is the most 'user friendly' way to do it, the size limitation will cause it to take forever. ;)

Game saves... I don't want to pay for a memory card aswell as a HDD.

i believe my friend Threefive's correct. it's all online and/or downloadable. you won't need to transfer anything from drive to drive, it'll just take time getting everything again and there's gonna be the off chance of data loss.

Gamesaves aren't online. They're stored locally on the Hard Drive.

right i forgot about the saves. but those are tiny, true? the smallest mem card should be enough if there's a way to move them around. haven't poked around at all.

Just make sure all of your saves are transferable. I was kind of ****ed when I couldn't transfer my Viva Pinata game saves to my memory card even though I had enough space for them. Thankfully Best Buy let me keep my HDD when I exchanged my 360 recently.

I don't know why it's like that. When you try to transfer the save, you get a message like "You are not allowed to transfer this game save". All my other saves transferred fine. I could've lived with starting over in that game, but my wife is at like Level 41 or something and would probably kill me.

It's no biggie about the 360, though. I had been meaning to get it exchanged for months. I was getting random, but infrequent, disc errors (didn't appear to matter which game I was playing) and on a few separate occasions the disc tray wouldn't come out when I pushed the eject button. The disc errors were coming a little more frequently, but I wanted to wait until the post-holiday season was over so I could avoid the long return lines.

I was still procrastinating, but my boiling point was with Tony Hawk, trying over and over to get a Sick medal and ended up actually doing a few that I thought I'd never do. Next thing I know my screen goes blank and I get the old disc read error. I found out that none of my accomplishments were saved, so I was pretty ****ed and finally did what I should've done a long time ago.

crap. did the doctor give a reason why this happened to your machine?

i've been getting error 74's on boot again..

anyway, sorry to hear about your tony hawk ordeal...never was a fan of those games and if you don't mind me saying so, unless you rock at them they're pretty f'ing frustrating!

you did wisely by not returning her over the holidays. that would have been too cruel being deprived of The Joy with all that leisure in the air.
