+Mystic MVC Posted January 21, 2007 MVC Share Posted January 21, 2007 Just having trying to connect a couple 360's together through a router so we could play more than 4 people in Gears of War. Not really sure if it is possible, everything is connected through a router, and only 2 360's can see eachother now. Is it possible or not? dragon2611
http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=561281 might be of some relivence Also are all the consoles running the same version? If some of them are updated and others arent let them go on live and get the update (a free silver account should be sufficent to grab the update) Edit: actually don't update it sounds like the update is whats causing the problem in the first place. You could try clearing the game cache but it will wipe all your updates out for all your games and youll have to reinstall them if you plan on playing on live again (although its automatic anyway) Edited January 21, 2007 by dragon2611
GNRambo
Wouldnt that basically be system link?
MGS4-SS
Wouldnt that basically be system link? Yeah, a LAN party of some sort I guess he meant.
quigley0
i'd use a HUB, maybe not a router. Less messy
morficus
yeah, just use a hub or switch if you do use a router... I think you need to turn DHCP off System link configurationThe Xbox 360 comes with an Ethernet port. You can system-link consoles, meaning that you can create a network of Xbox 360s, allowing private play. System link connects the consoles through a switch or a hub. With system link, you aren't playing through Xbox Live: The consoles talk to each other directly. This configuration is a definite no-brainer. +Mystic MVC Posted January 22, 2007 Author MVC Share Posted January 22, 2007 Well I didn't want to use the term Lan-party (I thougth that was only for computers lol). I do have a netgear switch we could try as well as using my cd and putting it in the 3rd console then updating it through my friends live. Most likely we will hopefully try both soon and we will get back to you. Still can't believe I didn't think about him not having the update lol. Ayepecks
Wouldn't you have to use more than 2 360's together to play GOW via LAN? The game only has two-player split-screen to the best of my knowledge.

+Mystic MVC Posted January 23, 2007 Author MVC Share Posted January 23, 2007 Hmm, apparently I didn't make myself clear on this issue. I'll try again. We were trying to hook up 3, xbox 360's so we could play 2v2v2 at someone's house. We couldn't because when everybody was connected through a router, only 2 of the 360's were detected (the ones that were updated I find out now). So, if we try something again this week, we will update that 3rd console then report back and see if that has any difference.
Ayepecks
You can't do 2v2v2.
dragon2611
You can't do 2v2v2. nope only 3vs3 theres only 2 teams in gow and providing theres an even number of players they have to be balanced.

Lol wow, I have owned the game for a month, and thought you could go 2v2v2. Seriously, I need to go die or something, man that's bad. It would be almost worthless to go 3v3 anyway because, on 1 tv you have 1 member from each team.
