Roger H. Veteran Posted January 23, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2007 why not tell your giant companies there to create some sponsorships for just EU, AU, JP, or whatever countries you guys are from. MS didn't tell them "only do it for US peoples" but the company did. Granted they must have their reasons for only getting 100,000s instead of millions of emails so i dunno... maybe it's just a way to manage the size of the participation. I't s 100,000 points so that's say 400 per person. That would equal 2,500 winners max. I'm sure with all the people that prolly already signed up it's waaay above 2,500 people already. Skiver Veteran Posted January 23, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2007 first of all, i didnt fall into the blame MS trap...go me :p second...did i mis-read yours post? this is one prize of 100,800 not split between the many Prizes. Grand Prize: One (1) qualified entrant (?Prize Winner?) shall win One Hundred Thousand Eight Hundred (100,800) thridly...why does the T&C say 100,800 and the main page say 100,

And why's everyone blaming MS for this? NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. SIERRA ONLINE, A DIVISION OF VIVENDI GAMES, INC., (“SPONSOR”) IS THE SPONSOR OF THIS ASSAULT HEROES SWEEPSTAKES (“SWEEPSTAKES”). MS has nothing to do with the decision of location. -Spenser

Allan
This is not a Microsoft US Problem. Each division of Microsoft (ie Microsoft Europe, Microsoft Aust. or Microsoft Japan) has their own 'president' and their own marketing group. That means that the Microsoft USA dosn't have a say in what promo's happen in each area. They can 'suggest' it happen, but that dosn't mean it does. it's just like McDonalds Monopoly, last year, both Canada and USA ran the contest at the same time, BUT the codes from Canada weren't useable in the US game and vice versa. Also, the "Win an ____ an hour" with Pepsi, that is regional as well, Pepsi International will say to each division " We have xxx amount of _____, you can have xx. make a contest." which is why the usa will be a .com addy, canada will be .ca, Europe .eu etc etc. Stop blaming Microsoft HQ because the country you live in's division of Microsoft dosn't run a bloody contest. It's not the HQ 's fault !!!.
ynnoj
I don't think anyone is blaming MS directly, I'm just curious as to why noone has bothered with anything like these promotions in Europe? The market is huge.
Spartan_X
thridly...why does the T&C say 100,800 and the main page say 100,000 taxes maybe?  :p
Lexcyn
I know why they didn't do it for Canada (something to do with the way the law dictates free givaways), but that sucks. I signed up before I read the rules. Oh well.

I mean look even when the 360 launched there were promotions like every 10mins or something, UK got nothing, STINGY presidents! MS is based in the US so it just seems logical that all promos end up there first.

neoadorable
you guys can't be that naive...you think the HQ in WA can't TELL those guys in London/Tokyo/Sydney wherever to get off their rear ends? give me a break! they're SUBSIDIARIES. they get instructions from HQ. otherwise why would they even bother selling the same product? how would they enforce XBL, standards etc? i agree that it's mostly a legal issue: laws vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction and getting involved in all of them is a huge headache. MS is just minimizing its headaches. they figure home turf and Last Fortress is the US. everywhere else is gravy and will take time to nurture anyway, so what's the rush? of course i don't see it like that...i'm a true believer in a global market and understand the harm this limited scope of theirs is doing to a fine product.
