+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted January 23, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted January 23, 2007 All you really need to backup are bookmarks, which is very easy and everyone knows how. And your extensions, search for an extention called FEBE

Joel
Well, it specifically backs up everything with the option to ignore the cache. FEBE seems to want some config before that happens. Also, FEBE needs to be installed on the new install you are restoring to before you can use it, correct? Backupfox is a standalone .exe (well, there are 2 other files, but nothing to install). You run the new install once to create a profile, then overwrite with your backup using Backupfox. OK, upon further review, FEBE doesn't actually have an option to save the cache, so I'm going to assume doesn't save the cache. But Backup fox produces a smaller file. And FEBE lets you schedule backups, so they both have their good points. Edited January 29, 2007 by Joel new info

noroom
All you have to do is navigate to Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and copy your profile folder somewhere safe. Include the file "profiles.ini" Then install Firefox on the new machine (run it once), and navigate to the same folder. Delete whatever profile is in there and put yours. Overwrite the "profiles.ini" file. Done. I just did that last night :)

Salgoth
i need to backup password forms cookies bookmarks Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<unique>.default or whichever was your profile passwords = signons.txt or signons2.txt forms = formhistory.dat (guessing on this one) cookies = cookies.txt bookmarks = bookmarks.html and you'll also need to copy key3.db as well to make them all usable in your new profile or install  Copy into your new profile folder after reinstalling and overwrite existing raw versions. IceDogg
Actually the link that Cryton gave tells you everything you need to know. Under the Firefox profile, it tells you the same stuff Salgoth just posted plus more. Now I think it's great that Salgoth posted it here directly so I'm not saying anything is wrong with that. But saying "nobady knows because i need the same thing" when the info was already posted there is just incorrect and perhaps lazy.
