Xbox Live Issues

Recommended Posts

Recently I've had some really bad, and expensive problems with my xbox live account.

Firstly, both my 12 month gold sub and my XNA sub were cancelled, for no apparant reason (thats ?100+ of subs). Thinking this was a glitch I sent an email to the support line asking what had happened. I got a response to phone the helpline, even after specifically saying in the email that I did not want to phone the helpline (surely the people behind the emails can do as much as the people behind the phone?).

I phoned them up anyway and was told to go back onto my account and order a new subscription and it wouldn't be charged. I go to try and do that and I get error 80169D94, which after googling I found to mean my account on their server has been corrupted... which makes sense since I can't buy anything on the marketplace, lost my subs, can't redeem any codes (for points or subs) and can't buy any points with my CC.

Phoning Xbox support for help with error code 80169D94 is useless. I've been told to try using my xbox live account later 3 times now. It appears that other people with this problm can't fix it either.

Anyone know any other way to fix an xbox live account? Or has anyone had a similar problem?

I think you probably have to keep phoning and maybe even ask for a supervisor and raise a bit of a stink until you get what you need. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and until you make enough noise they probably won't do anything for you. As i imagine the base level tech support people are useless and have no power, and possibly have no clue. So my advice to you would be to phone and ask to speak to a supervisor or a manager of some sort and explain that you have phoned before and still no luck with the solution you were provided.

Agree with this advice 110%

If indeed it means your profile was corrupt, I seriously cannot even fathom how in the hell they would justify not helping you set up a new account and/or reimburse you for whatever you have lost and/or credit it to the new account.

It appears as if you need to be slightly more aggressive. That does not mean be nasty, but it does mean politely refusing to get off the phone until your issue is settled and demanding to speak to someone higher up. Again, do it firmly, but try your best to just remain calm.

I usually say something along the lines of "I am not upset at you. I realize you have nothing to do with it personally. However, I am upset at the level of assistance I have been offered thus far, so can I please speak to your advisor and/or just go straight to their advisor."

Being nice goes along way, but being a pushover usually never gets you anything. Gotta remain firm but polite.

back when the 360 first came out, my friend bought one and imported some settings in MSN, which caused a glitch in the MS Matrix and he got his account corrupted as well... after a few months, he was informed that there was nothing he could do, but make a new account and they would give him redemption codes to get everything he had on his other account.

I hope you didn't do something similar to this, because all the accounts are locked on their system and there is probably nothing that can be done. Let's hope this is not the case though.
