Wtf happend to "connect"

Recommended Posts

Why did MS drop "connect"? I'm forced to use WMP11, and it shares my WHOLE library (5,000 mp3's)...

With their connect software I could select a folder and put stuff in there that I wanted my 360 to see...

Anyone have a link to where I can download the old connect? I hate WMP11 sharing.

You can use any UPNP sharing software, including Windows Media Connect, WMP11, Zune, or plenty of non-Microsoft offerings like TVersity.

Looks like the standalone WMC download isn't available anymore. But you could try one of those other solutions, or look around for the WMC download somewhere.

It looks like the only way to control what's shared via WMP11 is via Ratings, which does seem unfortunate.

Yeah, I've looked all over... All the sites that have links to download wmc are liked to download.ms.com.... and that link is dead.

Anyone have the installer downloaded? :(

WMC will not work if you have WMP11 installed. I had this problem.

Hmmmmmm... Im on Vista, and WMP11 is here by default... Dose WMP have an uninstaller?

What's wrong with the playlist suggestion?

How the hell do you do that?

In WMC, it was WAY easier. You put songs in a folder, and share that folder. WMP11 makes things more complicated.

It's fairly easy. Basically, it's the same idea, but with playlists you have a lot more options and you can even use auto-playlists intelligently (for example, create an auto-playlist that will automatically list all songs with a star rating of 3 or more, etc). Very useful.

Here are some links to help you out:
