Skiver Veteran Posted January 25, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2007 I got my copy of GoW back at release in november i think it was? anyway since then every so often i have had problems in which the disk would be un-readble or not read properly and get a nice white screen with text saying something along the lines of "to play this dvd, please put this in your xbox 360 console" and in many other languages i assumed its repeated! up untill now i have put up with it because i love the game so much, however last night i came to play it and i got that screen... over and over and over again... in fact i couldnt get it to start at all, i popped in CoD3 and it started up straight away no problem so it cant be my 360 surely? but now it leaves me with the question, what do i do now? i have three options the way i see it, go back to the shop and tell them what happened and hope that in their good will they will exchange it for me... except whats happened and deal with it (i cant really afford to buy it again) thridly and this is kinda sneaky and dishonest but i love this game and play it most nights, buy it (yes i know it contradicts what i just said but their is more), swop the disks over go back to the shop and say it doesnt work... anyone else got a better idea or which of the three i should do? FreqFace
Well, if you do go the swapping discs route, will you get a refund? I've tried taking things back after I've opened them and they've only offered an exchange. I know some people will disagree with this, but you could rent it, swap the discs... you'll just have to hope the rental copy is a good one. Skiver Veteran Posted January 25, 2007 Author Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2007 im not a member of anywhere that does rental...i mean i know its probably easier to do it that way, like you said...i might not be offered an refund but more an exchange which i mean, id love a new game but i couldnt really afford it the worst thing is, atm i dont really have time to go up and sign up at blockbuster, i cant even go at the weekend as im away! im still owed a christmas present from my dad i suppose, maybe if i do i get him to buy it, do the disk swop and then if im offered an exchange i can havent payed and i can at least get a new game :) thanks for the advice though, never thought about it like that

Sounds like your changed the orientation of the console while the disc was spinning. I don't see how it can just scratch it for no reason.
shadowmatt
Whilw trhe GOW disk has caused many people problems, many other disks have given similar results, such as Dead Rising. I sent back my xbox due to the continued read errors and was given a brand new console. I believe from looking into the problem that the early xboxs could have recieved a bad dvd drive which has intermitant problems reading disks. Shadrack
if they will swap it for you then swap it. My disc was giving me a bunch of read errors and there was a narly scratch on it. Not sure where that came from. I put it through a disc buffer to remove the scratches and that worked like a champ...although the load times are a little longer now that game works fine.
