rowdypixel
I'm a fan of Opera, but you may want to try using K-Meleon, as it is a lighter browser than Opera.

+Cryton Subscriber² Posted January 26, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted January 26, 2007 60% with no tabs open o_O something's wrong with your ff installation for sure.
C_Guy
The only thing "dangerous" about IE7 is people's ignorance. You're scared of nothing. Try it for yourself, then judge it on your own. If you still don't like it, good luck finding a browser that uses less CPU.

Phemo
IE7.LOL JOKE GOTTA BE KIDDING, IE7 INTERFACE LAGS AS IT IS! Firefox 2 FTW Maybe it does, if you have a crap computer. I use Firefox, Opera and IE7 and I can honestly say IE7's interface has never 'lagged' for me in any way at all so I don't quite get where you're coming from. Oh yes, also forgot to mention that I use all 3 browsers on quite a variety of systems - my pc, my work laptop and my own laptop, as well as various other machines at work. Never experienced what you're speaking of. Anyway, if FF2 is using 60% CPU time while doing nothing then something is clearly wrong - are there any extensions installed? If not then try IE7 and Opera.
Knight85
A lot of people bad mouth IE, but I think with IE7, there have been substantial security improvements. I have ALWAYS used IE... I never switched to Opera or Firefox. I have never had any malware on my computer, no spyware, no viruses and I have never had any security issues. I run a few free software solutions to keep my computer protected and then I can use IE without any fears :)

Opera has very low cpu and memory usage, give it a try.
