skase
I remember ages ago, before I owned a 360 and the original xbox was new; there was an xbox live tab in my msn messenger. I can't see it there now. About Messenger Alerts I found the above link and they say they will bring it back during 2006. Whats going on? Am I missing something (other then the obvious)
halcyoncmdr
There is an xbox tab in live messenger... at least there is on mine  Try scrolling through the tabs, there are a lot...
planetik
I can't see it either. Maybe it has something to do with where you live?
TokyoKiller
It only works for people living in the US. I tried this once, I switched my country to US and it was available to me a couple hours after.
magik
Just use XBList. I think it's great and gives you more options/notifications than MSN Messenger does (or used to). I will also be making a Trillian plug-in as soon as they finish the Visual Studio .NET wrapper (if they ever do). :)
halcyoncmdr
I'd love to see something almost exactly like XBList, but integrated into a Trillian Plugin...

golazo
It would be a bit hard without a keyboard though.. I guess they could release some kind of Live Messenger keyboard specially for the 360.

And if everyone starts saying "omg, xbox is turning into a PC", I disagree, its nice to have everything integrated. I don't care if I get more a more PC functions on it. golazo
yeah good idea.. they could probably even use the xbox.com forums without being able to use other websites. or even have 'microfost certified websites' that you can use on your 360 like nba.com and normal sites like that. I think it would be pretty safe and people wouldnt be able to exploit it
ynnoj
Before they give us Live Messenger, how about a browser? :D

Spartan_X
^ XBList is roughly 2130953 times better. :p  not really... it's a mess to setup, I never got it to work on my account...
goji
I only wish there was an "easier" way to integrate the XBL list w/messenger as I HATE the tabs feature, its way to bulky looking. Instead of the big looking woman who has everything, I just want the one well rounded gal who does what I need.
magik
not really... it's a mess to setup, I never got it to work on my account... It's not a mess to setup at all, come on now. All you have to do is (in Internet Explorer), have cookies enabled and be signed in to Xbox.com or any other Microsoft services that uses the Passport or Windows Live ID or whatever they call it now. You of all people should know that initially many indy-dev apps don't work right away on a new OS. Give it some time, it will eventually work on Vista and it will be better than what the current Windows Messenger offers.

magik
it doesn't work, at leats it doesn't on Windows Vista and IE7...  :p Try: Problem: I have signed on to Xbox.com with Internet Explorer, but XBList still says I'm not signed in. Solution: First, make sure that when you signed in, you selected "Save my username and password." If you're using Windows Vista, you'll need to add "live.xbox.com" and "login.live.com" to your "Trusted Sites" list in your Internet Explorer options. ObiWanToby
Works fine for me on Vista 64-bit. I'm curious to your thoughts on 64-bit. Now I might be crazy, but I do not believe so. For some reason general usage of Windows Vista x64, vs that of Windows Vista x86 feels slower. It was mentioned by anandtech as well. "However we can't shake the feeling of Vista x64 still being slower, even if the benchmarks don't show it. We've had multiple editors use multiple machines, and general performance in particular just feels slower. At this point we still are unsure why this is, but it's a very real condition that hurts Vista x64." http://www.anandtech.com/systems/showdoc.a...i=2917&p=16 For me it "feels" slower, especially the UAC popup dialogue.
