Opera - Remove torrents.

Recommended Posts

I downloaded a torrent with opera, and it automatically started downloading it.

I stopped it and started downloading it with bittornado and when it completed i went to Opera and clicked 'remove this torrent' as i didn't need it in my transfers screen anymore, but it deleted the torrent file and the finished torrent!

Is there anyway to get it back at all?

It should be in your recycle bin. That's all that Opera does if you delete a file through it. If you were downloading it through bittornado to the same location as the Opera download, Opera probably deleted it since it was an identical file and placement to what it had in its memory.

If you want to prevent Opera from automatically downloading torrent files, you can change the setting in the preferences.

Ctrl+F12 > Advanced > Downloads > Uncheck hide file types opened by Opera > Change the torrent settings

he can disable Opera's Bittorent by typing in "opera:config" in the address bar and looking for the bittorent section, there should be a checkbox to enable/disable bittorent.

Simply enabling and disabling I believe doesn't allow the torrent file url to be directly routed to bittornado though, which is a much better way to do it than downloading the file, then running the otrrent file to load it into bittornado. Just changing the default setting for the file type allows the url to be directly passed to the right program...
