Crackdown Disc acts as Halo 3 Beta Invitation

Recommended Posts

There really is no true story, since this is a sandbox game you just do whatever you feel like doing. Now that I have played the game I can tell you that the baddies from the other islands are freaking hardddddddddd, they have grenade launchers, submachine guns, rocket launchers, anti-tank vehicles....

Okay... I'm a little mad and I was going to make another post but I wont. This question that is coming up is directed to Spartan-X.

Recently, Crackdown has leaked and people are claiming they will be able to get into the Halo Beta 3 for free by using this leaked copy. Is this true? If so, is there ANYTHING MS can do about stopping them for not only getting a free game from pirating, but getting into a beta by not paying anything at all. I love crackdown, and Halo 3 is going to be a bonus for me, but I think it's ridiculous that these people are going to have the same options for free.

Also, if people are playing a game before retail date isn't that a good way of "watching" their account for banning of live? I know many people get the game before retail date (Reviewers, etc) but MS really needs to implement a way of banning their consoles if they not only get to play the game before us, but get into this beta for free. Really ****es me off.....

^ Until Microsot decides to detect firmware versions on the DVD drives, nothing is going to happen. I believe they tried in the past with one of the updates, but what happened was it ended up bricking a lot of legit 360 users and backfired. I'm sure a working solution will be implemented before too long.

That's not a problem at all... the first moment they try to use a pirated copy of Crackdown to download the beta of Halo3 the server will scan the system and if it founds any ?anomaly? like a modified optical drive firmware it will ban the XBL account, the mac address, the CC and the physical address linked to the CC in case they try to use another CC. Also, after you have downloaded the beta code the system will perform the same check every time you start the game.

So, no need to worry about pirates getting a free ride on the Halo 3 wago:devil:vil:

^^^ I don't get the part with the "Also, after you have downloaded the beta code the system will perform the same check every time you start the game."

What do you mean by that?

It means that if you're thinking to ask one of your friends with a legal copy of Crackdown to download the beta code to your HDD it will not work, a) you need the media, b) it needs to be original, c) the beta code is watermarked, d) you need to authenticate against the XBL server, e) the server will check your system for ?anomalies?, and so and so...

We?d thought almost about every one and single scenario that people will try use to get a free ride... :shi:whistle:istle:

as long as your copy is legal we don't care... you can only play the beta while the Crackdown DVD in on the drive, so, you return the game and you can kiss your Halo 3 beta good bye...

Gimme a rocket launcher and enough strength to lift and throw a car, ill be fine.

My mistake, they are not a gang they are just individual creatures in the city killing anything they see, but they usually dont get on your way
