MadFerIt
I'm assuming this means Virtua Tennis is being rendered at 1080p, not just "supports" it. It wouldn't be anything special if it simply supports it, since every 360 game already does thanks to the scaler chip. I still don't see the point of 1080p though.. But I suppose in games that aren't complex enough visually to cause problems at 1080p it's better to have it. I'm wondering how the 360 scaler will handle downscaling from 1080p to a lower resolution (if it is rendering at 1080p of course).
Septimus
360 will render it at 1080P if your TV and 360 are set to that. But if the 360 is set to 720P, it will render internally at 720P. No need to bring the scaler in at all. The scaler is only used on 720P games running at 1080i and above. Possibly even downscales to 480, but I doubt it very much. There isn't a single 360 game yet that renders internally at 1080p. Why do you think you can play games made prior to the dashboard update (which included 1080p support) at that resolution. It upscales from the rendered resolution of 720p to 1080p. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. Are you talking about this game specifically or all games in general? If you're talking about this game, we don't know for sure that it will be rendered at 1080p, and we also don't know whether or not it will be programmed to render at 720p when that resolution is selected. It may downscale from 1080p (if rendered at that resolution) to 720p in order to avoid any change in framerate.
Dazzla Veteran Posted February 6, 2007 Veteran Share Posted February 6, 2007 Props to Sumo for the online support they're adding for the 360 and the PSP versions. the PS3 version is crippled when it comes to online and it's the only version being ported by the AM team. Funny that...

What on earth are you talking about? That statement has nothing to do with this situation at all. If anything it's the other way around. AM3 (who created the arcade game) are creating the PS3 version, they've outsourced the 360/PSP port to Sumo Digital. How have you managed to talk about a the PS3 version being a port of the 360 version?
Meshuggah
Misread I still stand on my point that mutliplatform games will be ports of 360 going to ps3 though.

How have you managed to talk about a the PS3 version being a port of the 360 version? Well, it may not be true in this specific case, but to be fair, Meshuggah is probably right. The dev tools (as many developers have already pointed out) are far superior on the 360 than they are on the PS3. For that reason (amongst many others) you may start seeing many games being ports of the 360 version to the PS3 version this generation.

Any game that says "1080p" on the box is not being scaled. you know....i KNEW I was right about a month ago when I got in an argument with someone here about Lost Planet being 1080p. Why didn't I ever look at the back of the box until just now? it clearly says "HDTV 720p/1080i/1080p" I knew I was right
