NEW Mass Effect Screenshots. WOW

It looks good to me. I've been waiting for this game for a while now, and since it's made my the guys/girls behind KOTOR1/2, I have no doubt it will live up to expectations.

rodrigo, im not tokin, it does look like Prey, ask smigit, he agrees.

and Oblivion in space? could be interesting, but maybe too much. RPGs are very hit and miss when they get too amibtious, not like shooters.

This is going to be the best X360 game to launch this year. Yes, better than Halo 3.

Its not hard to be better than Halo. There are LOTS of games better than that overrates franchise.

Oh look, another shooter.

EDIT: I just downloaded the video trailer from Gamespot. I admit, it does look like it has nice graphics, BUT if that's the best for a "RPG" (I use that term loosely) that the 360 can do, I can see why sales are poor in Japan. Microsoft, please stop making shooters so frequently. We get it already.

It's actually RPG... or at least that's my understanding. And I certainly wouldn't yawn over this game - it'll sell me a 360 with no problems.

Role Playing Games aren't limited to Goku-like characters with swords that are obviously compensating for something trying to fight for the survival of mankind through turn-based combat.

Long duration, good to superb story, and new and refreshing gameplay.

Oh, right, because you've played both? :p

Not only is it not a shooter, as others have pointed out, but it's not being made by Microsoft. So I'm not sure why you're asking Microsoft to stop making it? :dontgetit:

... with swords that are obviously compensating for something.....

With all due respect, but that's a tired and immature comeback. What's next, "pwned"?

If you didn't allow your apparent bias affect your thinking, you would have seen that I was alluding to the fact that I am bored with the fact that Microsoft doesn't want to drift too far off their "shooter' mentality. Creating shooter after shooter after shooter doesn't do squat to growing the 360 base. They are shooting themselves in the foot by doing such a thing, no pun intended.

Not only does the current success of the 360 disagree with your point, but the fact still remains that Microsoft is not making this title. Plus, it's not a shooter in the traditional sense.

I'm not sure where you're going with your points?

there's some merit to what ozzy is saying, but it's likely shooters represent the core 360 user base's interests and therefore attract more attention from developers.

but we have already agreed this won't be a pure shooter.

".......current success of the 360 in North America....." (fixed it for you)

".....it's not a shooter in the traditional sense."? Most pics of the game I saw found someone running around holding a gun of some sorts. The trailer I watched looked like someone running around in a 3rd person perspective aiming a gun. While I don't know the story-line to save my life, it looks like a rehashed Doom 3. (graphic-wise)

My point? You can't wrap a pig in a bear skin and call it a bear, it's still a pig. Sprinkling a few "RPG" features on top of a shooter is still a shooter. I'm not trying to change your opinion on the matter, just explaining my thoughts more clearly. To me, it's a shooter.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game won't sell or be fun to play, it just won't likely make a lot of people think "wow, this is something new." It's a cookie cutter game, in my eyes.

Gears of War, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Halo 3 (all advertised as a system seller)...... Seeing the pattern or do I have to draw you a map?

^ Right, but that's what sells in NA and apparently as well (if not a little less) in Europe and Austrailia, etc. So unless you meant in Japan (which you did not say in your post) then I don't see why it's a problem if it shares many 'shooter'-esque features?

Frankly, I'm not really keen on this title and I don't think it'll be that great, but I do think it's a little different than what most shooters are like. But, judging by the success of KOTOR, I think this will be another hit. System Seller? Probably not as I think the title of System Seller is best reserved for proven titles.

Jeez. Microsoft is not devloping this game!

Besides, have you heard of Bioware, the developers of Mass Effect? They've made plenty of successful and popular RPGs, so I'm sure they aren't just slapping that label on this game.

Anyway, if you're looking for JRPGs, Microsoft is heavily backing and publishing a couple of those for the 360, too. I understand what you're saying about the 360 having too many shooters, but MS has only published 2 shooters for the 360 so far that I can think of and only one of those was developed in-house.
