need help setting up ADSL modem/router

Question

mealies    0

Hi guys

Just got a ADSL connection with Zen Internet and it went live on monday 5th feb.

However my router cannot connect at all. I got a Linksys WAG354G router, has anyone else got this router, have they had problems connecting?

Zen sent through the settings which were PPPoA , VPI = 0 VCI = 38 my username and password. I set these settings in the status page and still it cannot connect. the DSL light on the router is not lit, the power light, wireless and ethernet port 1 light are lit up though

I have tried rebooting the router and factory resetting it and trying again but still no joy. Does anyone have any ideas?

"the DSL light on the router is not lit"

Put filters on all your phones, and if you already have them on, isolate your phone line and have ONLY the modem connected with a direct connection to the wall socket.

Cheers for the advice

I should have mentioned that the router came with a microfilter which i plugged into the phone socket. its the only phone socket in use in the flat.

When i get home from work i will take the phone connection off the microfilter and just leave the modem in and try it.

Quick update

My router is bricked and i have returned it to amazon and got a refund and bought a netgear router instead> In the end i had to ring Linksys tech support who walked me through the steps to flash the firmware but we couldn't even ping the router.

Linksys tech support are really good, pity their routers suck
