rent a 360 in 20 mins and had a couple of quick Qs

Recommended Posts

hey guys, ill make this short. renting a 360 in 20 mins for 2 days, and the first thing i want to do is buy and download street fighter form the live arcade. I have a 48 hour gold membership card, but im worried- if i buy SF today and a couple of months from now i buy my own 360, will i be able to redownload it? or will i have to pay for it again?

also, i think u can buy arcade games with the silver membership, but can u also play them online with just the silver? I mean, wouldnt have the game be inaccessible if u sell them to people but people couldnt actually play them online with others with only a silver membership?

ok, im planning on playing this with friends and they have GOW and Rainbow 6, and i can only rent one game (i will also be enjoying demos)- so which one would be better for online gameplay??

thanks!! :)

All the Live arcade games are tied to your Gamertag, so when you get a proper 360 of your own you just recover your gamertag and you'll be able to redownload it. I've not played R6 online, but i have with GoW and it's really good so i can't help you there. You can only play games online with Gold.

hope this will clear some this stuff for you...

Licensing and Xbox Live Marketplace content

Over the past few months, forumers have reported issues with certain content items functioning improperly. Prevalent among these issues was the report that their purchased content was no longer being recognized as ?purchased? by their boxes. The reason people seem to be having issues with these items is because of licensing.

When an item is purchased and subsequently downloaded for the first time, licenses to use the downloaded content are created and passed out to two separate locations. First, a license is created and issued to the console. This license enables all accounts to use this content freely, as long as the content is being accessed from said console ? any profile being used on the console will be able to use the content while on the console.

Second, a license is created and issued to the profile used to purchase the item. This license is different in that it allows the profile to use the content on whichever console it currently resides on, but only if it is connected to live. Only the signed-in account can use the paid-for content ? a license would have to be purchased on that console for everyone to be able to play. This seems to be where some people are getting tripped up ? bringing a profile with a license on it to another console will not give the second console a license Example Scenario:nario:

Say we have Consoles A and B, and profiles Player1, Player2, Player3.

Player 1 purchases the full version of Geometry Wars on Console A. Console A now has a license for Geometry Wars, and anybody can play the full version of the game on that console. Player2 and Player3 are both able to enjoy the game as well on console A, as the console is licensed.

If Player1 moves to console B, he can still play the full version of Geometry Wars while he is signed into Live, as his profile has the license for the game. Player2 and Player3 would both be able to play the full version on console B, as well, as long as Player1 is connected to live on the same console. Once Player1 disconnects, however, Player2 and Player3, can only play the trial version, because they do not have the license, and nor does Console B. The only way Console B can be licensed is if another profile (Player2 or Player3) purchases the content on the new console.

Hopefully, this helps to clarify some of the issues you folks have been having. I?ll do my best to keep actively reading the forums, and will try to help out in any way I can.

I personally prefer R6 over GoW (online).

That's mainly because Gears is both a) full of kids, and b) laggy as hell.

R6 is a great shooter though. Addictive game modes, good upgrades/ranking system and plenty of maps.

thanks for the great responses guys :) i take it then that when i do get my own 360 it will have to be constantly connected to xbox live to play it? thats cool, im ok with that- and besides, If i reallly want to have a license on my new system i will call up microsoft and complain! :p lol

i was gunna get GOW, but i honestly dont want to ruin the story formyself when i know i wont be able to finish it given the timeframe i have the 360 for, so im gunna get R6 ;) more of my friends have that anyways :p

thanks again :)

you do know you get a free month with the xbox so you dont need to get a 48 hr acount

yeah i know, but i didnt make a new account, i recovered my gamertag, because when live first went online i reserved my gamertag and also i wanted to start earning achievments, so i used my gamertag and the 48 hours- not a big deal, since i had the 360 for one weekend anyways!

anyways- i ended up getting R6 and GOW since both were only $3 each to rent! :p didnt play any gOW single player cause me and a bunch of friends were having a blast playing both games all weekend!

oh i also bought street fighter from the live arcade and unlocked half the achievments- then i poped in sneak king which someone gave to me a while back and spent almost 4 hours unlocking achievments!

WHO KNEW ACHIEVMENTS WOULD BE SOO ADDICTIVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARING THEM TO YOUR FRIENDS!? :)

i cant wait til i have enough doh to buy my own xbox 360! i know the first thing im gunna go is post a new thread proclaiming "it finally happened- Im moved to the dark side! muhahaha!"
