lexor
Hey guys, I'm looking to improve my Fx browsing experience, and I need help with getting Fx to emulate two very handy features of Opera. 1) Something that bothers me extremely is the order in which tabs are switched in. If you open a bunch of tabs, but don't switch to them immediately, then pick one of the new tabs and switch to it and close it, it won't go back to the previously active, but to the one either directly on the left or right of the one you just closed. How do I make it act like Opera, so that on tab close it activates previously active tab? 2) Ctrl+B combo, another thing that I absolutely loved in Opera and now miss greatly. In Fx if someone has a link on their site that isn't clickable (i.e. properly formatted but no <a href=> tags on it), what you'd have to do is this. Ctrl+C to copy, select Address Bar with your mouse, Ctrl+V to paste, and then hit Enter. In Opera, you just go Ctrl+C, Ctrl+B. No need to switch to mouse from keyboard, it automatically pastes it into address bar and navigates to it. With all the add-ons that are out there, there must be a way of doing these two things, I'm probably just not looking in the right places.... I miss these two so much. Thank you in advance! eisneun
1) tab mix plus will allow selecting of last active tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1122/ tab mix plus options>events>tab closing>when closing current tab, focus: last selected tab. 2)use Ctrl+L to select the location (address) bar, instead of mouse. you might also look at the linkification extension which changes text to link. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/190/
lexor
Thanks for the help! But man, Ctrl+L? who has such freakishly long fingers? Best I can do is Ctrl+K (with left hand).

primexx
F6 also focuses the address bar afaik. You'd be better off with the extensions though, they're really useful.
Code.Red
What I usually do is select the link, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+T, Ctrl+V, enter. But then I just got the linkification extension. :p
lexor
That's what your right hand is for... ;) But that's on the mouse, after I've selected the link, the point isn't that I don't want to use mouse, but rather to cut down on steps and moves. 6 steps with Fx to 3 steps in opera. I guess I'll go with the add-on though, and make it 1 step :)
