lexor
This is how you'd set up openDNS server as your default DNS server under XP: http://www.opendns.com/start/windows_xp.php I'm assuming that's what you mean, just follow those steps and enter your DNS server's IP instead of openDNS ones. noroom
You can't have application-specific DNS settings. You have to set them in your connection properties, under the TCP/IP settings.
+BudMan MVC Posted February 10, 2007 MVC Share Posted February 10, 2007 Um.. firefox uses the dns setup for the OS its running on.. As to changing it without being the admin.. If you are not the admin of the machine -- why would you think you know which dns server to use better than the admin? Sounds like someone is looking to bypass something. A company dns that does not do outside lookups for example ;) BTW you do not need to be an admin to change dns.. you just need to be a member of the "Network Configuration Operators" in XP... You can not change your dns in browsers -- but what you can change is your proxy, and when using a proxy -- the proxy is what looks up dns, so whatever they are using is the dns you would use..
