tonyh21
I just got my second 360 after my first one broke after 3 months. Used the bestbuy replacement plan, btw no questions asked when I got a new one. So onto the question, do some you get a clicking noise right when you turn on the console? I have a sammy drive (its damn loud and whines compared to my old hitachi) I can get a new one as many times as I want, as long as I have a decent explanation in case bestbuy asks. So what should I do? Should I wait till those Benq drives become mass produced? Thanks, Tony
mycoolkim
Just keep it, its a click probably the fans or hdd. 360's are known to be loud aswell.

I also know its not the HDD or the fans. It is the drive that's making the noise.
AimLXJ
You mind giving an example of a click noise? Mouse click? :p
tonyh21
it is obvious that its coming from the drive, and its 1 loud single click that lasts around 1 second.

ynnoj
I get a noise from my drive when my 360 starts up too. It's done that since day one, and it just sounds like the drive starting up to me. I wouldn't say it's a cause for concern. I think my drive is the Hitachi one.
FreqFace
I get the noise I think you're describing.
what
I get the same noise. I think it's just the drive booting up to high speed in a short space of time.
+dnast Subscriber² Posted February 14, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted February 14, 2007 Yeah, my last 360 made that noise whenever I would turn it on. Not really sure why it did that, but it never bothered me after the first time.
tonyh21
This sucks....I'm not too bothered about the clicking noise anymore...but something else is wrong...my 360 is scratching my disks! there are these small circular scratches all over the disk. Back to bestbuy. =/
tao muon
sure it's not the dvd moving the laser?
mycoolkim
Ive heard of many cases of the xBox 360 ruining CD's. Ge the 360 replaced.
Spyker
mine did this exact same thing, microshaft wont take it in for repair unless the drive fails, which btw it will, as mine did. It has ruined my gears of war and cod 3 disks. Run a audio CD in it on loop till it fails or go get it replaced, don't let it ruin all your game disks as they wont replace them either. Noveed
when the DVD is spinning too fast or something its like as if the rubber band slips which is inside the drive and makes it spin, always happens when i first load a game or when the DVD spins very fast, it gets louder and louder and the Click or more of a FAN noice when you try to stop a fan from moving with a pen or summit it makes that little rattle noise but yeah it only last for a second tops.
