Spartan_X
Our Global Sales and Marketing Meeting Tuesday, February 13, 2007 5:41 PM by johnporcaro While the rest of the retail world takes a break from the holiday rush, we've all been neck-deep in planning for next holiday. And because our fiscal year starts on July 1, we only have a short time to get all our plans solidified. We're constantly on a moving track, about four months or so ahead of the real calendar. Once a year, we get as many of our marketing and sales people together as we can to hear about what's coming up in the next twelve months. We call the meeting START, and to be honest, I'm not sure what it stands for (something like Strategy, Tactics, Armwrestling, er..., forget it). Last year, I wrote briefly about some of the things we saw then, including the first gameplay I'd seen from "Gears of Wars" and "Rise of Legends." The whole thing kicks off with a soccer/futbal tournament with teams from different subsidiaries playing. Peter Moore is quite the player, though I'm not sure that his team has walked away with the trophy yet. None of us from Gamerscore Blog joined a team. Maybe next year. Too busy playing Gears and Crackdown and Rainbow 6 Vegas. Obviously, most of what was shown and talked about today was confidential, and heck, I like my job waaaay too much to spill any info that'd get me in trouble. There were a number of jaw-dropping moments today, but rather than give the PR team fits, I'll just say this year promises to be very good for the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows (and other parts of our business, too). Surprise of the day for me personally, though, was Hellgate: London. I hadn't seen the game as in-depth as I did today. I. Want. That. Game. I took a few pictures that I posted up on Flickr. Sorry, mostly just talking heads on stage. I will share a couple of pictures of an interesting little demo done by Peter Moore. He played through an entire song on Guitar Hero II, and I have to say, he did a very good job. I wonder if someone got a phone-cam video... The guy can rock.
