nero78
Hey. Is there any good fans out there to change with the xbox360 fans to make it more quiet?
FreqFace
It isn't the fans making the noise, it's the DVD drive. Notice it's only loud while playing a game?
GNRambo
The only quieter solution is to find an xbox with a BenQ drive inside. Apparently they're quietest. My samsung drive is LOUD!

Wrong, my Xbox360 is making noise even with no DVD in drive. So I guess it's realy the fan inside that can be loud. Of course, the drive is not quiet.... when a disc is inside. I didn't say the fans were silent, but they're hardly loud. The DVD drive is most of the noise output.

To be honest, when there's no DVD drive spinning, it's quiet enough for me.

My XBOX 360 DVD drive makes virtually no noise... I only hear the fans and boy do they get loud during a intense rendering scene... heck the power brick is louder then the DVD drive in mine and this is a 1st week release system
bdsams Veteran Posted February 15, 2007 Veteran Share Posted February 15, 2007 im pretty sure thats the DVD drive if its loud during rendering...
salis
I replaced my stock xbox 360 fans with these... http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/product_i...products_id=716. They're dead silent and push more air but I can hear the dvd drive even mroe now. lol
PsyOpWarlord
The fans in mine were loud as hell even with no DVD in the drive. Turns out my system was overheating and fans were running at max speed all the time. Before I found out MS had extended their warranty to one year I had taken it apart and I used Artic Silver 5 for the 2 heatsink compounds and now the 360 is more quite that the day I got it. nero78
Forget about the DVD. I know that one is noisy, but i mean the fans. They make some noise when its quit in the house. neufuse Veteran Posted February 15, 2007 Veteran Share Posted February 15, 2007 im pretty sure thats the DVD drive if its loud during rendering... what in the world would the DVD drive have to do with playing a game thats saved on the HDD? especially when there are no DVD's in it to even spin up the DVD drive... heck playing HD movies from the HDD does the same thing! its the fan's I know how to tell air blowing from a DVD spinning
lol911
I was going to suggest putting those big fat Zalman fans in it... but then I realized exactly how big they are
DrCheese
Those fans above only lower the noise by 3db, 7% might sound a lot but when its only 3db it really isn't. You simply won't get quiet fans for the 360 that push the amount of air that it needs. I'm sure you could find some quiet 60mm fans but the 360 would probally overheat fairly quickly
