Pc_Madness
Seriously :\ I dunno what its like for people over in the states, but for people down under its just constant lag. In Gears of War I shoot the ground at the start of each match to see how much lag there is, its usually about 1-2 seconds, but I've had a few where its been even higher and had to quite cos I couldn't hit anything :\ Why can't all games have a "View by Region" option. :\ It sure would cut back on the lag, as I'm sure theres a tonne of Australians playing out there, I just never get put into games with them. :(
AimLXJ
I rarely have lag myself. Best bet is by playing with your friends that you know that lives in what area.

Pc_Madness
I rarely have lag myself. Best bet is by playing with your friends that you know that lives in what area. ummdo you actually lag in any game other than gears? cause gears is the only game with any major game if you lag elsewhere you connection must be a pile of dog balls If you don't want to lag in gears: Host it yourself. My connection is more certainly not "dog balls" (in australian based servers for PC games I can have pings of less than 50), hosting games is basically like cheating in Gears (plus it takes a while for people to join). It will really depend on the game. For example, BF2 is purely on dedicated servers run by EA. I'll give you one guess as to where the servers are. :p Luckily the hit boxes are so big you can spray and almost certainly hit something. No lag here, sorry. :/ You do realise your all from the same region, and thus fall into the category of US gamers who will be enjoying a nice lag free experience? :p
Captain_Wang
UK here and I've rarely had lag to be honest, I don't doubt you are experiencing lag but Xbox Live does depend a lot on the person's connection moreso than PC games for some reason. Remysaus
You do realise your all from the same region, and thus fall into the category of US gamers who will be enjoying a nice lag free experience? :p here in the Netherlands I've got no lag at all, and i also noticed that i never get in matches with US gamers, mostly dutch, english, french. so i think it is somehow region-based. Olemus
Mine can be pretty laggy but my internet connection is absolute crap, i just have to not go online during some times of the day.
Rodrigo
You do realise your all from the same region, and thus fall into the category of US gamers who will be enjoying a nice lag free experience? :p Yes, that probably has something to do. :p But hey, maybe you need to blame other Aussies for having bad connections. :D (You can't host a 4v4 game with 256kbps up) Another thing is that don't just join quick matches... search for them so you can see if there's going to be any lag. :)
Huleboeren
I experience alot of lag in RainbowSixVegas - usually in the start. The serverbrowser should list what country the host is in.

Spookie
XBox Live like the PC is very dependant on the hosts connection. Sadly. Live doesn't have dedicated servers so you get tools who don't have a clue about their max upload speed and try to host 16 players on a 128kb upload connection! It really doesn't help that you will no doubt be connected with someone from the US so your ping will be even higher. :( Luckily people in the UK tend to be a bit more clued up. So Rainbow Six is bareable with 8 players. Still a joke with 16 players though. I have no idea why they bothered to include that option.
