Defiantly
So after having the 360 for about a month, I finally used the included headset to do some voice chatting with a friend. We both experienced some severe echoing. (i.e. I would say something at it would be repeated over and over). Same thing would happen when my friend talked. Is this a known issue? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I didn?t see any options in the dashboard to change mic or headset levels. Much appreciated?

Chances are one of the two of you have their TV really loud, and the headset is picking that up, especially if the person with the really loud TV has their headset Volume turned up all of the way. Other option is does your friend have the regular or wireless headset? The reason I ask is the Wireless headset has been known to cause some echo issues. Vykranth
Echoing is usually because your headset is picking the TV sounds. First solution: lower the TV sound. Second solution, I don't know if it applies too because I have a wireless headset but in the Player info panel of the dashboard, there should be two menus "Voice Chat" and "Options" where you can configure voice chat output and level
MadFerIt
Yeah like they said, it's your TV. I don't know how many times I've been in a match with individuals who had their TV's set loud, it's extremely annoying.
Defiantly
Hmm, I'll check that out. However, at the time we were chatting, we were only in the dashboard, which makes no sound at all (other than clicks and beeps). We did find, however, that if we spoke real softly the echoong was less noticable. Gotta find that output level thing.
stanley porkchop
Is your mic close to your earphone? Ask your friend the same thing. What you're describing sounds like feedback.
Defiantly
We're both using the standard 360 headset that came with the system, so the distance between the end of the boom mic and the earpiece is fixed. However, might be worth trying to move the end of the mic further away from our mouths.
neoadorable
could also be latency in the connection. happens a lot over Skype, which is very similar to the voice over XBL i believe.
Defiantly
Figured it out! My router settings showed up as "moderate" NAT on the 360. After configuring the router so the NAT was "open", all is good. No more echoing. Thanks everyone for your input.
