do 360 games really look that bad on

Recommended Posts

At first I would play on my monitor 9 times out of 10, but after about 8 months or so I started playing on my 32" SDTV more often. I missed the HD, but it felt good to get out of that desk chair and sit back on my couch.

Same reason, I am struggling with here :p.

With the recommended vga cables (around $40 right?) and the female adapters for the sound, how much would we be looking at total. As sombody mentioned before about those female cables, what do they actually look like and are they a must?

i got a 360 hooked to a Standard TV in my basement, it looks good, it will look better on an HDTV, but imho you will still like it and be impresed by it.

hi i remember reading somewhere it said that 360 graphics look horrible on sdtv, i mean, can it really be that bad???

I played on a 20" CRT before I got my 32" Sharp LCD HDTV and its 100x better.

As for the dashboard, the normal dash skin sucks... It doesn't really bring out the colors. Try the "Glass theme", its colors are much more vibrant. It actually makes my screen "glow" with all the colors.

I haven't seen Gears of War on a non-hdtv because all my buddies have hdtv's. I'm sure it cant be that bad.

I have a 40ins 1080p HDTV now so I'm settled :p

Gears of war looked more than fine on a SDTV and I didn't really notice that much difference when I went on my HDTV. That said I purposly left that game alone until I got my HDTV so I could play it at its best.

Capcom games look garbage on SDTV's tho but thats because they don't really bother supporting them

It didn't look much better than 480i (SDTV) you say?

Are you sure you don't have your 360 set to output 480p?

The audio adapter comes with the VGA cable (if you get the Microsoft ones), so it'll just be $40 +tax.

dunno why everyone is talking so much ****.. i had mine on a sdtv for about 11 months and it still looks beautiful, before the 360 came out, the way people were talking about SDTV.. i was ###### myself because i thought it would look like ps1 graphics or something, but then when i finally played i realised everyone didnt know what they were talking about. it looks great even on a sdtv, but now that i have hdtv it looks even better

SDTV = Looks nice but missing the details found in HDTV. Plus font in some games can be illegible.

HDTV = You see all details. All meaning, all the jaggies, all the pixelated textures, all of the horrible 2x Anti-Aliased edges.... ALL.

he means because the picture is so clear you can see all of the "jaggies" on hdtv (game designers fault not xbox or tv) but with sdtv sometimes the lines will look good because the picture aint as clear and blurs it over, kinda like a comb over job lol

I've had my 360 on a SDTV wince I got it at Xmas, going to get a VGA cable sometime for a PC moitor but it still looks bloody great to me on an SDTV.

Oblivions water gives me the wow factor, pretty much all of Moto GP 06(cept the chains don't move) PGR3 looks amazing and Gears of War looks pretty good too, that's all of my games look excellent on a lil TV DVD SDTV Combi !

^I agree. Once you get spoiled on widescreen, it's hard to go back. I played on SDTV from Nov 05 until Jan 07, and it looks good, just not great. I did have a problem reading some of the fonts, because some games have TINY fonts...(I'm looking at YOU Dead Rising!)

Won't there be issues with the widescreen and spect ration on a PC monitor when I get a cable? :(

Never seen a 360 on HDTV so I don't know what I'm missing, my mate is really ****in cool an has a huge widescreen tv in his room with a pc and 360 attached and he can use the remote to switch which it displays and you can have normal tv in a lil square on the screen too, I thought oblivion looked very jagged and pixelated in parts on that though, so I'm not sure if it was a HDTV or not, it didn't look THAT good y'know...
