Pentaborane
My average download rate (speedtest.net) is about 130 KB/s (sometimes I am lucky to get 200 KB/s, with my highest ever being about 415 KB/s) - Even though I have cable  Is this too slow to use Xbox Live well (mainly online gameplay)? Elliott
KB/s or Kb/s? They're pretty different. If it's KB/s, then that's fine, because that's going to be Kilobytes per second. Kb/s is Kilobits per second, which is considerably different. 56K is 56 kilobits per second. See, the Speedtest in your sig shows some pretty good speeds for Xbox Live. I don't see how it's so different now. :p

Should be fine. Also speedtest.net isn't always that accurate i sometimes get bad results on online speed tests yet if i hit a good server i can max out at 6.5mbit/s Edit: hmm seems more accurate than it used to phaps they've improved it. AimLXJ
https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=461457 I did that tweak myself and I got a major improvement. Note that this tweak only affects PC since its different for Xbox 360 and since Xbox 360 doesn't require any connection tweaking unless your MTU is a bit off. My advertising speed for my DSL is 180KB/s and with the tweak attach to it, my average speed went to 160KB/s and BTW, you can never reach your advertising speed because of traffic so your connection is usually cuts off by 20% **EDIT** **NOTE** Please ignore my MS Ping( Latency ), I did this test on my Opera Browser and it is known to do that, but my real MS Ping( Latency ) is actually around

Thats a downgrade :p
AimLXJ
180KB/s is my advertising speed. For the replies, oh well, atleast it worked for meny other people ( which I cannot say what forum it is ) but here are some quotes from them: "Ekasra: Golly Gee, my torrent speeds went from 30kbs to 130kbs on low seeded torrents. Black Shadow is my hero" "buckguerra: This tweak showed me that I wasent receiving the best connection possible from my cable company. It doubled my connection speed and i recommend it to everyone!" "crzy972: Before Download Speed: 10325 kbps (1290.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 1743 kbps (217.9 KB/sec transfer rate) After Download Speed: 12206 kbps (1525.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 1751 kbps (218.9 KB/sec transfer rate)" "dazz7400: Before : Down - 2111kbps / Up - 210kbps After : Down - 2605kbps / Up - 211kbps" "shogoll: Before Download Speed: 705 kbps (88.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 312 kbps (39 KB/sec transfer rate) After Download Speed: 2480 kbps (310 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 315 kbps (39.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Wewt!" "marcround: worked beter for me before : download : 2746 kb/s upload : 284 kb/s after : download : 3209 kb/s upload : 468 kb/s" "A Tiny Chipmunk: Before download 3075 Upload 1181 AFTER !! Download 3642 Upload 1370 THANKS MAN" Though do remember that it may not work for all computers because some are tweaked already. **EDIT** Oh and BTW, the guide on Neowin isen't up-to-date so maybe thats why its not working. ( I had some fixes ) **EDIT** Hmm I just found out the first guide I posted is 100% wrong, try doing the second one I posted in page 2 I think . Huleboeren
You sound like a commercial :p But im will try your guide soon - if it doesnt work, you better hide
AimLXJ
Yea I got that comment already :p "Bob00100: Lol, those quotes you added in your post makes it sound like an infomercial :) ) Oh and if it doesn't work. you can always go back to your original one by applying your old register back in ( followed by my guide ) **EDIT** Looks like the second one is kind of outdated to lol, but it still works, but do remember that to save your registry settings before applying it in :D
Pentaborane
(Your speed) should be fine. Thanks. And does anyone here actually play with these kind of speeds (if so do you notice any lag)?
AimLXJ
I play with 160KB/s and don't really notice much lag unless the person ( host ) is downloading something
neoadorable
those speeds are supposed to be fine. MS says "broadband" is needed. but that's anything over 75K/sec. btw by this reckoning, dial up is 5.6K/sec.
AimLXJ
Yea but though PlatinumOxide, your download speed seems great but what seems to be pulling you down is the upload speed, remember that a high download speed isen't always great, the upload speed might be slow, and another thing, with your kind of speed, you wouldn't have to worry about it, all you have to worry about is the latency with the person you are playing with and do remember that a high download speed doesn't give you a low latency. AimLXJ
Yea, you speed is fine and all but look at your latency here: 124 seems to be really high. When I use to use 56k my latency use to be around 150 but since I moved onto DSL its now 30, you can try moving to a different ISP.
Huleboeren
I dont trust that Distance thingy - PlatiniumOxide, where are you located compared to the server?
Pentaborane
Yea, you speed is fine and all but look at your latency here Again, it sounds like you are looking at the 415 KB/s in my signature - please don't! My average is only 150 KB/S ...where are you located compared to the server? 450 miles seems more correct. PS - why?
