XBOX 360 died

Recommended Posts

So I got the 3 rings and I talked to best buy today and I've got the 2 year product replacement plan and I get a brand new one. But one person told me before they'd just make me give em my 360 and not my hard drive. Today the person said they'd take my drive. Now what do I do when I want my drive, so now what...I'm scared to put it in my friends to copy my stuff to a card. I stood there and argued with them for like 10min and she kept tellin me they have to have everything and have to give me a new one.

This gives me this idea if there gonna be jerks about it and fill me full of bs I might as well take it and sell the brand new one with all my games and other 2 controllers and stuff.

What would ya'll do for both situationes.

Ermm, does your friend have a product replacement plan on his?, if so then stick your HD in it and get your stuff off, chances are the HD isnt the problem see if your 360 will boot with no Hd on it, if so then the HD isnt the problem. dont sell it ><

what's this about? just tell them to fix it rather than replace if possible. if yes, then leave the HDD at home, why give it to a friend anyway?

I don't think Best Buy fixes 360's as far as I know (at least in the US). The only reason I got to keep my HDD was because I know people that work there. And even then, I ended up losing that HDD because my "new" 360 ended up going bad, too (I try not to ask too many favors).

I don't get to just keep my 360s hard drive, I want my saves and stuff I think it's bull if they can't swap it out for you. I just don't want to ruin a friends 360 just to see if my hd can be able to get my stuff off it. Otherwise, my system doesn't boot with no hard drive just for you to know.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm not positive, but I think the X360 has a laptop HDD in it, couldn't you use a laptop HDD-to-IDE adapter and attach it to your PC ang ghost it? Then just ghost the new HDD when you get it with your image.

DJWeasel listen to me on this.... BestBuy does NOT need your hard drive. Microsoft tells you right away when you send it back to them for repairs that you keep your hard drive. The bestbuy place you are going too are a bunch of tools.

All they would have to do is replace your xbox with the regular one without HD and that's it.

Bestbuy doesnt repair.. They will take everything ( including the hard drive) and give you a new one.. If you want to send the 360 to MS, then you can keep your hd and just send the console only.. I think you should return it to best buy because they will give you a new console and if you send it to MS they will give you a refurbished console.. If you really want keep contents from the harddrive, then buy a adapter cable for 360 hardrive from best buy and copy all your stuff to your computer..

Sadly they took everything and I just said to the lady working there why they can't just take my hard drive out and put it in another 360 they have. Then put my saves on a memory card, and the lady goes "could you lower your tone" and I was like "I'm not talking very loud, I was so mad and I think that they handled it poorly in my opinion.

Yup... Microsoft will just give you a refurbished XBox 360. That is what they sent me after I got ring-of-death certified (you are all next!). My original 360 was made in March '06, the refurbished one they sent me has October '05 on the manufactured on date :( :(. Oh well...it is still working so no complaints here. Still, I was hoping to get something from '07 :(.

My friend just got his replacement, and received a dented up, skuffed up unit from August 06

scuffed and dented? that's not right, i'm sure they'll replace it.

They probably will replace it if you give them a call and express your dissatisfaction with their refurbished unit. However, this all comes at the inconvenience of you not having an xbox 360 for another 2-4 weeks :/.

I had the same prob with bestbuy with my 360 getting the 3 rings, i called and they didn't need the HD so i drove an hour to best buy and when i went to get it replaced they told me that they needed the HD. I was so ****ed off.

After fighting with them for about 15mins i got my way and ever since then i've never dealt with bestbuy they can all goto ****ing hell as far as i'm concerned.
