Xbox 360 Spring 2007 Update

Recommended Posts

spartan X just hints.. but doesn't give us any real exclusive before everyone news..

the hints are good, and bad at the same time. they give us hope, but make us wait too much.. i'd much rather come home, turn on my 360 and see an update.. then go read what the update was on neowin :)

I suppose it depends on the people. :p I like knowing that a big surprise is coming.

Equally I could say that Microsoft have something coming out, and be just as correct.

He told us he had "exciting new information" about the 360 and HDMI weeks ago - guess what, NOTHING.

I understand that it's not always possible to post information, but, in general, he says something big is coming at the big events, and then links after the event. Hardly a real scoop IMO

My guess is they will hold the update back.

I have heard from various sources (not the internet no) that the black 360 with HDMI and 120 GB(maybe 160) HDD is going to be released in April.

I would love it if microsoft will fix the crappy DVD playback...For an amazing machine that the 360 is, it has bad dvd playback quality.

Also it would be amazing if they could add more resolutions that the 360 can pump out..This will help for some of us who have monitors at retarded native resolutions!

Hmmm....why not add some diet coke and pizza pockets to that update too... :)

I'm also on a 16:10 monitor, it seems to me that quite alot of people are using 16:10 monitors and support for the native resolutions would be quite welcome.

16:10 isn't widescreen so TV's don't do it, limited only to monitors etc, I think the 360 can do lots of resolutions, because of the niffty little hardware scalar it has. But because the majority of users use it on a TV (SD or HD) MS sticks to the resolutions supported by TVs, this also means the games just have to worry about 480/720/1080i/1080p support and not the endless resolutions monitors can do.

Odd. I've found the DVD playback (upscaled to 720p over VGA on my Samsung 61" DLP) to be absolutely superb. I think it even rivals my friend's really expensive Denon player.

group chat would be a nice option

I never understood why they didnt have this in the beggining, it wouldnt be too hard to implement. Group chat enabled in dashboard only would still be better than no group chat at all (Y)

Millions? Wow, talk about vast overgeneralization.

As for features, I'm pretty sure MS hasn't said anything at all, so anything you might have heard is just pure rumor and speculation. As for a release date, I'd say probably in May.

I wish people in this forum were a little less sensitive and would over react a little less.

Still... when it is your XBox 360 that stops working with a particular problem and you jump online to see other people having the same problem it does seem to be a major issue because if affects you. Sure, it is still an isolated issue. The Internet has its way of bringing people with similar problems together. Thus amplifying.

But I still get aggravated at posters who's hardware is working fine and dandy and want to throw that it the face of the person who is having problems that were never their fault to begin with. Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive.

I hope they release a web browser or at least an RSS reader. More video formats besides MPEG and WMV would be nice but probably isn't going to happen :(.

The best you are going to get is group chat in the dashboard.

With the way Microsoft designed Xbox Live it is not possible to have private chat with more than one other person speaking.

good post from Shadrack. initially i thought the OP was trying to be like Carl Sagan, you know: "billions and billions...".

well, whatever the update is, it'll be welcome. web browser? yeah...but if that happens my PC will surely become a door stopper.

The Wii had a browser and although it wasn't in HD, it looked horrible. Text was unreadable. I'd be willing to bet if a browser was added, it would be more of a novelty.

Well it seems that so far on the first day of GDC, no update info, but we still have 4 more days.

ok them, as per your request I'll stop posting after GDC is over.

have a nice day!

Heck, I love teasers, half the time I'm making teasers. It's a fun way to get people hyped. You all should be happy that he even takes the time to come on here and let you know something is coming. You don't know what, but me personally, I'd rather know that there is something planned rather than nothing planned.

So Partan, keep on postin' bro! Oh and I'm looking forward to the next XDK release, that's gonna be a huge piece for my work here! ;)
