S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - GOLD

That's just your system forcing the graphics card (or processor, can't remember how it goes with that) to take more of the load which what would have been done in the first place if say the game was perfectly designed for your system (like a console).

Hmm, this game seems to be seriously flawed..

I have just gotten back from x16 and delivered the USB and documents to the Bar keeper and well, you know how there are like 23 stalkers in there, well when i walk into the area there are lots of stalkers and ontop of that about 15 enemy soldiers, the stalkers are walking around like nothing is wrong and the enemy is kicking my ass, i have made it to the bar keep but the damn enemy is walking into the BAR and shooting me, I HAVE NO WEAPON DOWN THERE.. what the hell is going on..

spookie, is it the military in the game or bounty hunters? still haven't played it so don't know. then again even the best militaries in the world issue mostly crap assualt rifles to the majority of troops. lock ups and jamming are quite normal, if not too common.

the presence of certain particles in the air may also promote malfunctioning...is the environment in STALKER real misty-like?

i just got the game, runs .... ok...ish at 1680x1050 on an AMD X2 4400 2Gb ram X850xt only problems i seem to have is exiting the first trader place where you start, i get a little lag spike when exiting the bunker, and now and again the game freezes for a second then carrys on fine, which isnt really a problem untill i was sprinting for an artifact that was right next to one of the sucking anomaly's ..... splat :)

another annoying feature i found is no quick safe, or auto saving once you compleat quests. would it be so hard to have an auto save feature when you compleat any quest ? not just the big "special" ones ? and an F key you can press for a quick save?

its not that i die alot.... its just annoying when you forget to save and you have done so much after your last save :(

oh, and bag weight sux i had to carry round 2 different types of automatic weapon coz i couldnt get a decent amount of ammo for ether (yet had over 600 rounds for my pistol) hopefully when i get to the bar after my current quest i will get to buy a better gun :D

I just finished it :(

But it wasn't the ending I wanted.

I finished with over 250,000 money. never spent it :(

What a great game.

I only wish I finished it properly rather than my ending

Military AKs I was stealing. Now on to stealing the Bounty hunter euro based rifles which fire NATO rounds. :D Hell of a punch.

I completed it last night, it had much more potential but overally, its a really good game worth playing. Theres a few problems, I mean.. it has RPG elements but nowhere to buy stuff (apart from trading with people) with all this money you receive for completing missions.. ?!

Theres 8 different endings to the guy a few posts up, I only managed one and its probably the same as you (easiest one), the game doesn't offer much incentive to go back, I probably will though. I just wish I had a decent gaming system to play this on :)

for those that say they completed the game.... The game has only been out for two days. I've played for about 6 hours and just got to the institute. How long did it take you?

I just installed it, and i am suprised how decently it runs, after hearing about bad performance and such. I think my processor might just holding it together enough. On medium to low settings(default)

My specs:

Intel pentium D 3.40ghz

1GB Ram

Radeon x600 (I am no hardware guru but this is a pretty weak card, no?)

They probably didn't do any side-quests ?

Hey people, I really need your help asap.....

I've just got the game and installed it fine, but it won't run and crashes at launch. My PC should be perfectly fine to run this game as it is well within the specs. I've found a thread that tells me to delete ct_oal.dll to sort it, but I don't seem to have that file! Any help that you can offer would be very good....

Please Help, I really want to play this game :(

their is allot of reasons to replay the game as i would be almost positive that when ya play it again things will be different . with the A.I-Life seeming to be all they siad it was from alot of reviews i read i am sure you could go through it 9 times and get a different game exsperiance each time without reapeting in game scenarios for the most part.

TBH it's quite a dull game, the graphics are pretty poor compared to the performance you get. the RPG element just seems really gimicky. Though the firefights in this game are really fun, though some times the enemy seems to be able to take alot of hits. Certainly not on my favourite games list, but not awful.

the Reason for enemy taking alot of hits is for the fact it is more realistic as you may only be wounding them but not giving a concrete fatal blow. Developers for stalker put alot of time in to things like this and physics and heck i remember reading an interview stating they had actually calculated real world physics and gravity and objects by weight and height and pressure and all the mathematical #s used in the real world that we see everyday so the game would be more realistic, stalker is about immersion and realism.

Why are so many people saying this game doesn't have widescreen support? Have you even played it? It has 16:9 resolutions and 16:10 resolutions.

Played the game for a little while, Works rather decently on my AXP 2400+, 1GB ram and 6600GT (Vista Home Premium).

So far the game is very interesting to say the least. I think the graphics look good enough and the textures fit the profile of a post-apocalyptic are. The sound and overall atmosphere are awesome, And the fire fights and ballistics are just superb. AI's very decent so far, With human enemies actually thinking whether they have a chance or not against you. Friendly AI doesn't seem so good, sadly, The first mission NPCs just all died in front of the same door, With only one enemy inside some abandoned house that shot them all.

Overall, It feels like a well-done game. The interface, menus, sound and textures, AI all give a very unique experience.

I actually went and purchased the game from EB Games (Good refund policy) and this game totally sucks, the graphics would have been good for 2002, the game play is "mental", that is the best way I can describe it. This title gets a 1/90 of a star out of 5 IMHO.

Perhaps so, but i felt it didn't work in the game at all, I felt my shooting was luck than skill. But apart from that the shooting was really fine.
