cannot use ping or tracert in command prompt

does anyone know why I cannot use ping or tracert in cmd?

this is the error message i get:

Unable to contact IP driver, error code 1753.

I've tried searching for what eror code 1753 is but no luck.

Hmm seems to work for me. Are you running any additional firewire? What type nic do you have?

Hang on a second here... You don't know what a "NIC" is but in your signature it looks like you've disabled certain services, just like what k22 said!

This is related to an RPC fault.

Firstly, reset the Vista services to their installation defaults, reboot and retry. If no luck then follow the advise in the above link.
