jimmybob479
I just got a new setup - a new xbox 360 (replacement unit) hooked up to a 37in 1080P LCD monitor (Westinghouse 37-w3). I was watching a movie on the hd-dvd drive and everything seemed fine, but then I popped in one of those Burger King games to play with a friend and noticed "tearing" about 1/3rd from the top. It happened in that game, and in GoW, and then even when connected to My Media Center PC (via xbox 360). Would the "tearing" be an xbox 360 problem (due to the graphics card, vga cable, etc) or my new monitor?
NeoTrunks
That happens with my LCD TV as well, but only when the 360 is hooked up via the VGA cable, not through component. I think it's just a limitation of the TV.
v0ltage789
This is going to happen when ur using vga cable and the framerate of whatever is happening on the screen is higher than the refresh rate your tv is running at. See if you can change the refresh rate on the monitor, since I don't think the 360 has vertical sync? This is just my guess.
jimmybob479
Hmm.. well when I turned my 360 on first THEN my tv, i didnt see the problem anymore. I think it might be that - my tv has weird autodetect and whatnot and supposedly you need to turn on the 360 first to fix some stuff....
cyclingplatypus
I had the same problem with a Westy, I found that when I turned off the auto-detect it went away, cool feature but the novelty of it disappeared pretty quickly for me.
neoadorable
maybe vert sync is automatic on the 360, but yes, as said earlier, it's your TV being slower than the 360's gpu. this happens occasionally on LCD monitors as well, especially in RSV for some reason.
