Certain Discs...

Ok here is my problem, I frequently buy used games and sometimes new games. But recently when buying used games I get a weird noise when ever I shut down the console or go back to the dashboard. (When the drive slows down) Now it's not that big of deal since there are no problems during game play or anything but I just thought it was strange since it only happens with used games. Does anyone know what it could be? The most recent game I got was Condemned and it is the only game doing it since most of my other games a new. Should I take it back for exchange? Any help would be great :)

sounds like a grinding type nosie but there is no damage to the disc or anything else for that matter

Does it sound like the disc suddenly just stops spinning and grinds against the drive tray?

Also, is your system horizontal or vertical?

Glad to see i'm not the only one with this problem! My box is horizontal and it sounds as if the drive mechanism is slipping and makes a grinding noise. All the disks work and look perfectly fine and dandy tho - but it's not very pleasant and makes me wonder if i'm going to have to take my box back

I **** my pants every time my discs do it :( I've been keeping an eye on my disc to make sure its not scratching them... and I have my suspicions that it is, but only very lightly.

It is vertical and yes it does sound like it is just stopping all of a sudden. As I have said it seems to only happen on games that were launched with the system in late 2005 to early 2006. I bought the 360 in Oct. 2006 and it was Manufactured in Aug. 2006. I also have the slandered 1yr+2yr extended so I am not worried about the warranty just don't feel like not having my 360 for 2 wks.
