neufuse Veteran Posted March 12, 2007 Veteran Share Posted March 12, 2007 I read MANY places that you can not play games you downloaded from the virtual console channel from SD cards... however, I had 9 games downloaded, copied them to SD, deleted them off the Wii internal memory and they still show up in the Wii channel screen and still play! I thought this was supose to be impossible? has anyone else tried this with the latest Wii Firmware upate? thanks!

Viserov
Actually, that's cool, I didn't know you could play the games off the SD card itself. So, I can keep all my downloaded VC games on just my SD card and play it off of the card instead of the Wii itself?
MadFerIt
I haven't actually tested whether or not you can "launch" a channel off an SD card.. But I do know one thing, things such as "Virtual Console" titles and etc can be saved to an SD card, however they can't be played on any other console then your own. So you can't take a SD card with your games, and bring them to another Wii console. It has to be your console only. But if what you said is true (and I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt), thats very cool. But I don't think it would work so well for me. I'm using a MicroSD card with a SD adapter, and they tend to be slower then a regular SD card.
neufuse Veteran Posted March 12, 2007 Author Veteran Share Posted March 12, 2007 What I read is that you "can not PLAY saved virtual console games from the SD card slot" and the way its writen its talking about the same slot on the same system you originally downloaded them from, at least that is what I read on numerous sites... But I tried it last night and it works! All I did was this Download game from VC channel to Wii, go into Wii data mangment, copy game from Wii to SD, it may say some data cant be copied, thats just saved game info, which will be lost I guess? havent checked that yet... then delete it off the Wii and its still on the channels list... launch it and it runs! Works perfectly fine here as long as you only do it in the same system you downloaded them on
bontakun
I've got all my games backed up on my sd card, I tried deleting a few of them off of the local memory and then they failed to show up in the main wii menu, copied then back and then they show back up. For the record I tried restarting in between the delete and checking the menu and it did me no good.
