Nightz
It's time, once again, to add some fuel to the once smoldering rumor-mill fire! We've reported on it before, but we have new information on the rumored black Xbox 360. According to German website Xbox-Archiv, they've received insider's information on Microsoft's plans for a new (and totally un-official) Xbox 360 model and yes, it's black. They are reporting that this new black Xbox 360 will launch this May, include a 120GB HD, HDMI input and also change our current Xbox 360 bundle offerings. With its release the Core bundle will disappear from existence and the Premium (Pro bundle) will drop in price. The website also touched on a Halo 3 release date stating it would be out by the end of November, something we already expected.Microsoft, we know a new Xbox 360 model is coming out ... just fess up already! Is anyone with us on this one and getting sick of waiting for an official announcement and simply want some hard facts? We're thinking that the best chance of hearing any official news is in the coming weeks to steal some of the PS3's European launch thunder. As we say; death to the Core, a cheaper Premium, and all hail the new black 360! Can't you just feel the excitement? source: xbox360fanboy here's the link to the translated site too: link

Glorious
Snap, if this comes out I'll be very happy to exchange for a black one with HDMI.
LightIdea
Uhhh, wouldn't that be HDMI output.... ?!
azz0r_wugg
Getting rid of the core package is a good move. Making the hard drive a standard should have been done from the start, I like the idea the PS3 has of installing games.
Skiver Veteran Posted March 13, 2007 Veteran Share Posted March 13, 2007 i still personally dont believe these rumors (partly because i dont want it to be true) my xbox is about 4 month old and for them to release a newer better model would be effectively crapping in my face imo! sambrentnall
if say this did come out how easy would it be to transfer all my game saves and data, videos, music, profiles and XBLA to say the new
Skiver Veteran Posted March 13, 2007 Veteran Share Posted March 13, 2007 i think you could just redownload all your downloaded content, one you have paid for it you can download as many times you want under your profile :) as for the gamesaves im not sure but i know your achievements can be got by selecting retrieve gamertag instead of creating a new one at the initial setup
Blahsted
I've had a black 360 for about 7 months now. I don't get what all the fuss is about just go buy a Black Night XCM case and replace the white one.
ynnoj
We've heard this 'rumour' so many times now, I'm starting to believe it. I've had a black 360 for about 7 months now. It's happening, confirmed it with an MS consultant 2 weeks ago. There may be an upgrade path for users within a certain time frame, but don't hold your breath. No built in wireless which is fricking stupid. As to transferring game saves, funny coincidence with the new 512MB card out?
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted March 13, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted March 13, 2007 Black sort of goes against their entire branding though, doesn't it?

Pentaborane
So since the premium would drop in price; Does this mean that the "Black" one will be the same cost of the premium as it is NOW, or will it be more money than the premium is NOW. magik
we dont no this yet, all it says is that it will have hdmi I know we don't know this for fact yet, but there just have been so many rumor reports from various sources that I'm fairly certain it's true and I'm kinda peeved about the whole thing. I hope EBGames or something will have some sort of exchange service for a fair price.
gunnerhkjp
If there is an exchange service, it will like be from MS and not EBGames, and HIGHLY unlikely. And HDMI cable hasn't been ruled out yet. I don't think HDMI version is a bad thing, since consoles evolve with time. I just hope if they choose a black color, they change the shape of the console. Otherwise, it will look like a dell
NightmarE D
I can't stand how people complain about buying a system and a new version comes out a little later on. This has happened with almost every console that's ever come out. Sega Genesis had 3 different models. The original wide version with the headphone jack and volume switch. Then the smaller model 2 without the headphone jack and the very small model 3. You can also count the Nomad (handheld Genesis) and the JVC Genesis/Sega CD system. 5 different versions of one system. I happen to own them all. Super Nintendo I know of 2 different versions of it. I know of 2 versions of the Original Nintendo system. Plus there was TV's you could buy that had Nintendos built in. Don't really know if you can count that or not. And yeah I did manage to find and buy one of these TV's  Playstation 1. I can think of 4 versions of the original system. One had the component video jacks on the back in the middle. A later version got rid of those. There's one version that had the slot where you could insert a Gamshark or something else and another version that didn't have it. there's 4 of that one and you can count the small PS1 version as the 5th. That's 5 versions of one console alone. I have them all except the later small version. Sega Saturn I know of the original system then a later smaller system because I own both. Nintendo 64. I don't know anything about how many versions there could have been. I own a couple, but rarely played them. Playstation 2. The original and the later small version are all I know of. Plus possible drive changes I think in the original system. Sega Dreamcast. There was 2 versions I know of. The original that had an issue where the controller ports could short out, killing the system. The later version was the one where they fixed that issue and they rearranged how the GD-Rom drive sat in the system. I was a victim of the early controller port issue and owned both. Nintendo Gamecube. I'm not sure how many there have been. I don't own a Gamecube and have rarely played on one Xbox. I think there's been 4 different versions all featuring drive changes? Xbox 360. Not entirely sure. Playstation 3. From all the problems everyone says it has I wouldn't be surprised to see a few different versions. I'm not bashing the PS3 by saying this so don't even try starting a flame war. Phillips CD-I had 2 versions that I can think of The 3DO I'm not sure about You all see what I mean so I won't go through the rest  Different versions always come out at a later point. That's why when I would buy one I'd wait a couple months to see if anything would happen. If it became apparent there would be a newer one but further down the line. I'd usually get the system. Then sell it later on to have money to get a newer version. This is what most people do. This is why places like Gamestop are good on buying systems and games from people. They want people to get the newer products.

They always have some sort of trade-in promotions such as "Trade 2 Xbox 360 games get 1 Free" and "Trade in your old Xbox console get a 360 at XX% off" etc. So I would imagine they could have a similar promotion for the new 360.
