Official Xbox Mag's 5 Games Being Kept Secret

Recommended Posts

>> From the "press release" about the "5 biggest secret games" being developed for the Xbox360 - full details will be in the April issue of the US Official Xbox Magazine:

Agents Scully and Mulder are no match for the Xbox 360's "X-files" report. Only Official Xbox Magazine can declassify the five biggest games coming out for the console that "the man" doesn't want you to know about:

* 5: Hellgate: London- This action-RPG, in which a gate to Hell has ripped open in London in 2028, is filled with massive skill customization, paper-doll character tweakage and disturbingly addictive dungeon-crawling treasure hunts. The game is possibly being kept under wraps to let it bask in the Windows limelight for awhile.

* 4: Crimson Skies 2- The original, underdog Xbox game Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge is just popular enough to give a sequel the green light. Xbox 360 doesn't want you to know about the new game yet as a matter of timing; they need to keep some bullets in their chamber for next year.

* 3: Duke Nukem Forever- The 10-years-in-the-making sequel to the 1996 industry- defining hit Duke Nukem 3D can finally meet its goals now that technology is available that will help the game redefine first-person-shooter interactivity like its predecessor. Game developer 3D Realms is probably keeping it hush hush until they pin down a release date for the PC version.

* 2: Star wars: Knights Of The Old Republic III- Developer Bioware dropped the hammer on the rest of the RPG world when it made the original Knights of the Old Republic. The game is arguably one of the best Star wars video games and warrants a third installment in its series of follow-ups. Official Xbox Magazine has a sneaking suspicion that they are working on III, but aren't letting the cat out of the bag yet as not to derail hype for other current projects.

* 1: World of Warcraft: Azeroth Adventures- Eight million PC gamers paid $50 to own the original World of Warcraft, plus another $15/month to play it. Now, the Xbox 360 version is expected to be its own animal, not a pared down version of the PC game. It seems Microsoft will keep dumping cash on Blizzard's (the developer) doorstep until they agree to create a custom-built-for-360 version of the game. Rumor has it that it will debut for the 2008 holiday season

I really really really really doubt they'd bring World of Warcraft to 360. The only reason FFXI is still barely floating on 360 is because they can play on PC servers. If they want WoW360 to be separate from the PC one, it's going to flop. The game's already taken over the PC/Mac MMO scene, and anyone that cares is playing it already. Not to mention, the game doesn't require much of a PC to play it on, so unless they bumped up the graphics considerably there'd be no motivation to buy it, especially if you couldn't take your existing characters with you. And, there's the whole controls issue. I played the FFXI 360 beta for a very short period, and the controls were pretty clunky. Sure, they could bring WoW to 360 with mouse/keyboard support, but who the hell wants to play on their couch with a mouse and keyboard? Again, might as well sit at your PC and play. They'd need to completely redo the game for the controller, and get some kind of voice chat support built in, because from what I heard in my limited WoW experience it's more or less required for the level 60 encounters.

Sounds like way too much work for the new lazy Blizzard who can sit on their ass cranking out repetitive content patches while they roll in a gigantic room filled with the money sifted from the pockets of nerds everywhere. Let's say Microsoft was actually trying to get them to do this. Personally, I doubt they are, because I don't even see it as that smart of a move on their part, but hey, that's just me. So, Microsoft wants WoW360. They go to Blizzard and do the Microsoft thing, which in reality amounts to nothing more than throwing money at someone until they get what they want. Unfortunately, Blizzard has more money than god anyway right now, and they're sitting pretty. They don't really have any reason to go along with it, no matter how much they stand to make.

Needless to say, I doubt the validity of the #1 game on the list.

having the duke back would be nice. but i doubt it's coming out anytime in the near future. maybe it'll emerge from that hellgate in 2028 London.

That list has ZERO credibility since it has Duke on it.

That game is NEVER coming out...stop talking about it already.

On that note...Hellgate London and Kotor 3 sounds great.
