Rahul
Hi , I have a Xbox with XBMC installed, i dont use my xbox for gaming as such but i do like using it as a Media Center & it does a wonderful job of it . but now im plannig to dump the Xbox & buy myself a brand new Xbox 360 , so can anyone guide me that what are the media playing prospects of Xbox 360, i know that it plays Dvds just fine but i want to know that whether it will play my home videos encoded in WMV as it is from a DVD disk & also whether itll play stiff like DivX or Xvid or do these have to be converted to Wmv first. Thanks to all in advance
jimbo11883
The 360 will play WMV from a Media Center PC, and possibly from Windows Media Connect/Zune/WMP11. DivX, Xvid and other formats may be possible with a program like Transcode360 for Windows Media Center. I am not sure about just placing WMV files on DVD, though. We usually just convert everything to DVD and play directly on a 360/DVD player. This saves the other PCs in the house from doing extra work. Konstanov
Yeah it will work on the .WMV side of things. Just write the files to a CD-RW or DVD-RW or eventually HD-DVD RW and it will run (doesn't have to be an RW disc but probably would be better off). You might want to try streaming over a network though and use TVersity as far as the Xvid and DivX side of things goes.
