Next Wednesday, you can play Castlevania: Symphony of Night on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 (Wednesday, March 21 at 0900 GMT, 2 a.m. PDT).

In ?Castlevania: Symphony of Night,? the 12th iteration of the series, you take on the role of Alucard, the half-vampire son of the blood-drinker Dracula, as you venture into his infamous father?s foreboding castle.

Castlevania: Symphony of Night will be available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated T for Teen (Animated Blood and ViolenceGame Featureses

  • Play the original version of the game or experience it in enhanced mode with improved graphics and modernized audio and sound effects
  • New native widescreen and high-definition support
  • Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points

Wait.. Native widescreen? Every image and video I've seen of this port it's been a boxed in 5:4 image.

That would be big news for me, and a definite purchase if there's a true 16:9 mode for the game.

I've been wanting to try this game out. I remember hearing the praise it got when it first came out but I never got a chance to play it because I only had a Sega Saturn at the time. I hope I enjoy it as much as everyone else did.

Don't worry, I'm sure there will be some good coin-ops coming soon that are more to your taste. This is a very important release for XBLA, IMO. SOTN was a AAA title for the 2nd highest-selling console of all time - the original PlayStation. Nintendo and Sony have much better back-catalogs than MS so it's important that Microsoft gets titles like these out there. The fact that we have the option of improved graphics and widescreen aspect-ratio all for 10 bucks is just icing on the cake.
