Figured it should go here for right now instead of the Media area... didn't see it posted yet.

I think it'd be somewhat neat, since the story in Gears stunk. Would be kind of interesting to see what's going on, and I think the story could actually be decent if a few things are changed up.

Sweet! But I'm not as excited cause it's still not the Halo movie. WE ARE WAITING, HALO!! COME TO US!!

Anyway GoW is a mind-blowing game and I'm sure the movie will kick butt.

I wasn't impressed with the original Halo's story at all. I've only played parts of Halo 2, but it still didn't impress me... I don't really know why people obsess over the story so much. Maybe I'd have to read the books or something.

Personally, I'd rather see a Gears of War movie than a Halo movie. I don't think the story in the game would be worth following, but I think creating a new story around the setting would be the best bet.

I wonder if they will leave the storyline open with plotholes like the game. Good game though, the story was just stupid, and had no real ending (nor beginning...)

if the movie is as meat headded as the game was, then it will suffer. Plus i wonder how they'll get actors with that much muscle?

Same way they got the actors to look like they did in 300, or do the things they did in The Matrix trilogy... :p

yeah to be honest I think a GOW movie would be alot better than a halo one. I mean unlike the game they could in theory go back and do a prequal to the series showing the 7 day wars ect, things they probably cant do in game due to the scale of it.

If they do do a movie I hope its not a rehash of the game, maybe do it before the game starts for instance and showing emergence day and all that or whatever. I dont even care if marcus isnt the main character...infact I might prefer it since hes a bit too rough around the edges for me to want to listen to for 90 mins.

edit: sorry it wasnt the 7 day war. thats HL2. GoW was the 100 year one wasnt it?

I loved the game, and the story was perfect for a videogame, but honestly I don't think it would make a good movie.

Agreed on the story for a videogame being a poor movie plot... that's why I think it'd be best to just use the setting and backstory for the movie and create a new story to follow.

It's a fine game, but didn't wow me like the first time I played Halo. Halo is still the best choice for a movie. But then I've read every book, and Halo's full story is practically as extensive as starwars. Halo has infinite material to cover. We'll see. Just because they bought the rights doesn't mean you'll ever see a Gears movie.

hey smigit that's a concept: marry HL2's seven hour war with GoW's Pendulum Wars! hahaha. Give us some Breen baby!

and i vote for Uwe all the way...this guy's so dedicated to making game movies, his stuff is good by sheer volume.

as for the muscles, they were already done CGI-free in Predator et al. there's nothing 300 has that mid-80's action flicks didn't.

id like to see this as a movie... i think it has the potential to be quite a good one too, very strong storyline though the game and could probably be adapted into a movie... although i think to get the full storyline into a movie it would have to be a pretty long movie and fast paced as their is a fair bit to cover

I don't know why, but everytime a video game debut to be a movie this became a piece of crap, look to what happened to "Doom the Movie" and many others
