360 died almost exactly after 1yr

I don't treat mine very well (there's a good bit of dust on it, but it is well ventilated) and it's still running strong since launch day. Ironic.

There's ways to get the games without the 360 breaking :shiftyninja:

Look, up there!

Is it a bird? NO!

Is it a Plane? NO!

Is it a huge guy with a crowbar ready to beat the crap out of you, if you don't share? ... Yes! :p

Yours is next buddy. I baby-sat mine and it died a month before 1yr old. Microsoft replaced it but I don't have very much confidence in my refurbished xbox 360 (ahem..from oct '05!!! mother ****er). Probably won't last till end of summer. 360s are garbage and I'm telling people to stay clear from them. MS can't make hardware.

So, a tiny fraction of Xbox 360's fail. That obviously means Microsoft sucks at making hardware.

You don't have to be lucky to get one that won't fail. You actually just have to be unlucky to get one that fails.

I'm sorry, but your wording isn't correct. It may be a small fraction, but it certainly isn't a tiny fraction of XBox 360's. Microsoft have even announced that there were definitive problems with "the first batch of '05s." They'll never announce that the flaw still exists because they want people to keep buying.

I know more than one other person who has had their 360 fail on them. Is it just that I am unlucky and 2 of my friends are equally unlucky? Shoot I only know 5 people with XBox 360s in RL. So 3/5 have failed from what I've seen. Take that with the weekly "my XBox 360 died" thread that pops up here... And not just with '06 or '07 joined members. Christ! even bangbang's 360 died.

There is something about XBox 360s failing after about a year of life that really bothers me. If it failed withing 30 or 90 days, well ok then...there is probably just something wrong at the assembly line. But when something works just fine for months upon months and then just stops working under normal use then that says there was something wrong with the initial engineering of the product. Either that or it is planned obsolescence.

Keep spewing "tiny fraction" bull ****. Your 360 is next.

Ok, update time! :p

Called back today, and got ahold of a supervisor. I didn't even have to request for him. (i was amazed)

The agent that took my call was actually cool.

He heard me out, took my ref#, said he was going to see "what he could do for me". Put me on hold and came back with a super!

So bottom line: The super game me Free Shipping + 75% off. I took it in a heartbeat.

I only ended up coming out my pocket $30 :)

Thanks to all you guys for the great helpful tips! (Y) (Y)

Good to hear, man. I'll remember that if my XBox 360 dies again and it is out of warranty (which I think it already is). One thing: I would have argued that you needed 100% off and paid for your own shipping. Just waiting for the box to ship your x360 in is like a 3 day wait.

It is a tiny fraction consideing the number of Xbox 360's shipped. I don't think you're really considering the big picture here.

Thank you for wishing my Xbox 360 to die though. I'll keep you updated on how wonderfully perfect it's working. Maybe it's because I bought a Core unit. I don't know, but it's working perfectly.

After reaching a 75% discount, i really didn't want to push it, yaknow?

It's only 30 odd dollars out of pocket. (probably come close to that much If I was to handle the shipping myself anyways)

I'm in no hurry. As i said earlier, I don'y play on a dailt basis so...

Gives me time to focus on other things.

I don't wish your XBox 360 to die. I'm just letting you know that it most likely will die (in a year or two) ;). Don't expect to see any XBox 360s for sale on EBay in 10 years. My 360 worked perfectly up until it just stopped working. I imagine that just about everyone who has had a failed XBox 360 didn't have problems that lead up to a failure. Just a sudden death kind of thing.

I'm also curious as to how you can state a "tiny fraction considering the number of XBox 360's shipped." First of all "tiny" is a very subjective wording. Tiny compared to what? Normal failure rates of similar devices? If we were to compare the XBox 360's failure rate to other gaming consoles in history then it would be considered substantial, not "tiny." Furthermore, neither one of use are privileges to numbers (unless you work for Microsoft and are just here spamming the forum trying to downplay the shortcomings of your product). Still, given the ones I've seen and from the numbers coming from this forum, it is not a "tiny" fraction.

No doubt. No need to push it, $30 for repair out of warranty is excellent. I hope that I get that kind of price next time my XBox 360 dies.
