'playable Demos' lmao

'movie trailers' rofl

what a slap in the F'in face. Why do they insist on treating us like freakin retards?

things that are @ no cost, just simply download yourself.

Have fun deleting all this crap to those few that actually get this.

Is this some sort of Jedi-Mind-Trick?

Well at least you know you won't lose anything special if you need to transfer data from the 20gig (since it erases all this preloaded crap.)

Not once do I see them claim that you are paying for all that crap. You are paying for the HDD itself, it just happens to come with a bunch of crap on it. I didn't even know the 20Gig HDD came with stuff on it when I bought it until I turned on my 360.

They're "bitching" because the 120GB is way overpriced and it seems like MS is including all of this freely downloadable content as a so-called bonus for paying $180 for a 120GB HDD.

Of course I won't buy the HDD at that price, but it's obvious that Microsoft is trying to justify the price of the new HDD by simply adding a whole bunch of content that's already free to non-paying Xbox Live subscribers.

I won't down anybody that's willing to pay that price, but as much as I have loved what MS has done with the 360, I'm not going to just follow along like a sheep just because others feel it's okay.

If you don't like the price of the 120GB, then get a 3rd party external setup and use any HDD you want. Have people totally forgotena bout all the extra 3rd party hardware out there for the 360? Or are the Playstation fangirls coming in to btich about anything they can find.

Get over it, it costs alot, maybe the price will change later, maybe it will always cost this much. Move along people, there are other things to do. So they give you free content on the drive, what the hell is wrong with that? Maybe people like the idea of getting all that free stuff insted of having to download it all? And if you don't like it, delete it! Bunch of babies.

LOL. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. There are three things, count them three that you can use an external hard drive for on the 360. Pictures, WMV, and Mp3 files. That's it, nothing more. No game saves, no game content, no game cache, no demos, no gamerpics/themes, natta zip.

And your comments about "Playstation fangirls" is just as ridiculous as your external hard drive theory. I've never owned a playstation console in my life. Does that mean I'm a Microsoft fanboy? Heck no. But I think you've proven you have an insane bias.

It's the people who make illogical and insane comments like you that have the greatest bias towards a certain console/manufacturer.

As for the drive price and the free content.. The free content are things you can download off Xbox Live already, so it's nothing that you can't download yourself for free. The only benefit I see is for those who do not have an Xbox Live connection, such as those still using dialup or who don't have a router/network setup with their 360. Now about the price.. Here in Canada we're likely to get a price of around $229.99 if not more. Anyone who knows PC hardware, and what it costs to have a 120gb laptop hard drive (for those of you saying, well look at the 360 HDD, it isn't the same! It is, the dark grey/chrome hard drive is nothing more then a shell for a laptop hard drive. If you remove it you'll see a regular SATA hard drive) know that Microsoft is over charging by a large degree.

I'm certainly not someone who whines and throws a tantrum because of something like this. To be perfectly honest with my habit of deleting demos/game trailers I don't need anymore, 20GB is enough. But, as more and more download content for games become available, the free space will dry up and I will have to replace the HDD. But I really really hope that the price for the HDD is lowered soon.

that wont mean anything according to https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=549701

once you transfer data, the info on the HDD transferd TO, will be deleted before transfer, making the Themes/crap that the 120GB drive come with, be gone once the transfer takes place

It comes with a transfer cable. :)

considering you dont need any of the content it doesnt matter. However, if you want to keep the themes/icons, you could always put it on a memory card, if you own one.

wow lets add a price tag for stuff thats free or stuff people already got with their premium 360s ... what a p.o.s

Cry more.

I think it's a good deal. The 20gb drive is $100, which is something like $5 a gig. The 120gb drive is $180, which is like $1.5 a gig. Plus you get a ton more stuff pre-loaded on it. Some people don't have broadband connections and will appreciate all the pre-loaded demos that come on it. It's definitely a better bang for the buck. If the 120gb drive was priced like the 20gb drive is, it would cost $600.

Criticize it all you want, but when it comes down to it, the majority of the gamers will have the 120gb drive and will be ditching their 20gb drive.

isnt anybody going to get the elite because of the HDMI? which I have on my hd tv. Also is it worth getting the elite one for the HDMI or not really that much of a difference from the HD settings I have now which is 480p and 1080I. Also will Gamestop or EB Games allow you to trade in your premuim xbox 360 towards that elite one guessing turning in your premium one will be maybe 100 to 200 dollars off the elite one. I dont care for the harddrive space I dont download the tv shows or movies on my hd from the marketplacer live. But I am getting mass effect and halo 3 and wondering if it better on the HDMI or the regular 1080I setting and if theya difference can you please explain and how much of a difference.

Last I checked there are 360 to PC transfer kits which copy over everything, saved games and data, not just music/mp3s and so forth. Then you can keep everything on the PC, if you need something you can just transfer it back or if it's videos off of marketplace maybe even stream them to the 360 from media center.

This lets you keep on using a 20GB drive and just moving over files you don't want/use to your PC. If those can then be read from an external HDD through USB by the 360 or not I don't know.

Whatever the case, it's only a matter of time before they come up with a way for you to use whatever drive you want.

Yeah, it is a better deal than the 20gb, but that's not really saying much. It's not like the 20gb's price was by any means reasonable.

And what's the use of a 120gb HDD if you don't have broadband? I mean unless you're going to be ripping hundreds of CDs, I don't see the point. And in that case you'd be better off buying a 500gb 3.5" HDD and throwing it in an enclosure for less than what MS is charging.

I highly doubt 360 owners are going to gobble up the 120gb drive at what it costs now, but I'm sure some will find it worth the money. I'd like to get one and start using the Video Marketplace more often, but the price just isn't justifiable to me. Something more like $129 would still be enough for a decent profit and would sell a lot better, IMO.
