+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted April 16, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted April 16, 2007 Does anyone know if it's possible to change the port the "default" bittorrent client in ubuntu uses? By default I think it uses 6881.

+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted April 16, 2007 Author Subscriber¹ Share Posted April 16, 2007 I'm not 100% sure what it is. I think it might be the official bittorrent client. It looks like this
Kreuger
I have no idea what that is. Fire up synaptic and search for bit torrent (name and description) and you should be able to get it
karma_police
It's the official client. You should try another one like transmission or deluge :D
Quillz
When using Ubuntu, I find Azureus works pretty well. If you have any of the KDE components installed, try KTorrent.
russellc
Does any other client besides Azureus and rtorrent support transport encryption? If Transmission or Deluge (both of which use libtorrent, I believe.. the libtorrent that doesn't have encryption afaik) support transport encryption, I would use them. karma_police
Transmission use libtransmission. Ktorrent supports encryption too.
russellc
Ah... that's right. I believe Transmission has some problems with certain trackers that record statistics, though. Ktorrent would also look very out of place in the array of GTK+ applications running :p more out of place than Azureus, that's for sure.
