Red Arrow
I remember when Firefox 2.0 came out there was a spell checker built into it. I'm currently running version 2.0.0.3 and can't find the spell checker anywhere. Was this feature removed or is there a known bug?

Red Arrow
Goto Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> "Check my spelling as I type" Yeah it's selected, but does not work in any forums I use including this one. I know my spelling is not perfect so it's not like I am not making any mistakes for it to detect.

[deXter]
Are you sure its that one, or trying something....cause I use that one alot...for many things. Well, you can always re-enable it. Atleast disable it for finding out what's causing the problem. None right now, I have uninstalled them all and restarted the computer but it's still not working. Any ideas? • Completely uninstall Firefox. • Delete the Mozilla folder present in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data. • Reboot. [deXter]
^ I don't know, you should probably contact the author of the Menu Editor extension.
+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted May 1, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) Checked out the forums for the extension, seems to be a known issue, but not fixed yet, nor not sure if its going to be fixed...hmm *so I closed down firefox and found the folder for it, and renamed the menuedit.rdf file to menuedit.rdf.backup restarted firefox and then reedited my menus, now everything is working together weird.... Delete Mozilla folder present%USERPROFILE%\Application Data %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data. ? Reboot. I am using Vista and therefore can't find those folders. I hope Vista is not the problem in the first place...
[deXter]
No no, they're system variables. You need to type/paste them exactly as it is in the address bar.
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted May 5, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted May 5, 2007 I don't seem to have it working anymore, since I installed something, I think since I installed Menu Editor, but I changed everything to default and this is still all i get. it is menu editor.. i installed it once, and because menu editor BLOCKS anything that isn't allowed, all suggestions for spelling are blocked from appearing. you need to remove menu editor... Red Arrow
I discovered a fix which corrected my issue. I had to download the correct dictionary from the Mozilla website and it worked instantly! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:
