MiG-
For now, look for Dolby decoding in software when you're on Vista. E.g. PowerDVD. It should work well enough if you're watching e.g. a movie and not doing other CPU intensive tasks at the same time. Otherwise, if you do some multitasking, it's possible the extra hit on CPU may get noticeable though.I'm not sure, but you might also be able to use other ways to get Dolby/DTS decoding if you can accept that it's not accelerated in hardware, which should only be a problem if you lack processing power. I'm talking about using my PC as an AMP so that i can decode 5.1 from the Optical Input of the Front Panel. Software canny do this.

Agreed, you spend ?100+ on a soundcard that doesnt even do half the things its meant to in Vista, and they even advertise it as Vista Compatible (it should be Vista Compatible, but none of the advanced features are that you are actually paying for)
L3thal Veteran Posted May 31, 2007 Veteran Share Posted May 31, 2007 I'm not sure about that. I think it's simply because all settings get lost when you install the new audio console. You might be hearing different sound, not better sound. I do not mess around with settings. I leave them as they are and just enable crystalizer to 100%. I can definitely say that the bass is much higher now then before with the knob dead center for bass power and it compliments the sound from the speakers better, considering the previous driver would give the bass a horrible sound that didn't fit well with the speakers. bangbang023 Veteran Posted May 31, 2007 Veteran Share Posted May 31, 2007 100% crystalizer? Ouch.
L3thal Veteran Posted May 31, 2007 Veteran Share Posted May 31, 2007 Had it at 50% for some time but it makes little difference between 50% and 100%. For the songs I have, it sounds better at 100%.

Jojo81
just to help with my previous post for A2ZS and other non X-FI users install the driver manually through device manager and it will work. The Creative installer won't let you because the software that comes with the driver is X-FI only. The driver however works great, much crisper than the previous A2ZS driver.
