Fullscreen cmd.exe in Vista Ultimate

Recommended Posts

Well, I only get that message on my widescreen pc?s. The ones that still have a 4:3 monitor-output go fullscreen without any problem,?

Maybe (if it?s possible, cause I know it is on some cards, but not on all), when you switch your output resolution to a 4:3 resolution, so that it gets stretched over your screen, that it?ll get tricked hard enough to let you do the same as what I can on my 4:3-mo:ptors? :p

Haven?t tried it myself yet, since my wide-screens don?t go 4:3-resolutions, so the problem still remains for a big part, but if you can, try it, it might help,?

Greetz,

Please dont say crap you do not know.

I changed to classic and it still did not work. Don't post something if you are not 100% sure. Thanks.

Well I WAS going to say how I got it working on my computer, bust since your rude... I wont.

Some old programs require full screen graphics in DOS.

For example, where I work there are lots of old formula and graphing applications written in QuickBASIC. These require full-screen mode, and won't function in a window. (this is in a University with toys that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the QuickBASIC apps work just fine. So NO, we aren't going to abandon them)

That being said, WHY is there so much back and forth discussion on this?

Full screen was removed with WDDM drivers. End of story. This "it works for me" crap doesn't help anyone.

You need to use Standard VGA Vista/Win7 drivers, or use older XPDM (Windows XP) drivers to get full-screen DOS apps/CMD.exe working.

When using Standard VGA or XPDM drivers, Aero will obviously not work, but your DOS applications can switch to full screen.

One work-around is to use DOS Box, as its full-screen graphical mode emulation is different, and will work with WDDM drivers.

    • I gave up on browser ad-blocking extensions a few years ago, replaced them with Adguard. Not perfect but overhaul is a nice app that does the job on both Windows and Android with the respective versions.

When they kill that we get to watch Firefox and Brave get a boost in user market share.
    • Block by DNS ad blocker! I dare you! I will even layer unlock Origin, on top of my internal DNS, if I need to and I don’t even block ads today (I really should but this type of behavior makes me angry). I suppose I could also just be lazy, and add the flags myself, back to each release (it wouldn’t be that difficult).
    • Wonder what MPs have ties to these privacy/verification/data harvesting companies that are going to step in this time. Last time under the Tories half the cabinet had fingers in the pies, heck even the PM and his wife at the time was working for silicon valley, probably made a fortune.
