Event ID 1002: WinLogon/Explorer.exe Shell Crash

Recommended Posts

Lately, I been experiencing windows shell crashes randomly. Here I have

attached a copy of the description from Event Viewer. Apparently, Winlogon

somehow crashed, which caused explorer.exe to crash as well. Do you think if

there is a fix for this type of problem? This problem has been showing up ever

since I fresh installed the Windows Xp Professional on this machine. The

problem has repeated at the following dates.

12/27/2002, 12/14/2002, 12/13/2002, 12/09/2002 (twice that day), 12/05/2002

My system spec is

Compaq Evo n610 laptop

Pentium 4 Mobile 2.0 Ghz

ATI Radeon 7500 Mobile 32 Mb with the latest driver available from Compaq.

SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio card

Windows XP SP1

Well, I been there long before I posted the thread. The problem is that page doesn't really provide useful info to resolve my issue. I don't even use any SiS video card. It is ATI, so perhaps, there is a glitch in ATI card?

My experience with mobile video card so far is still somewhat better with nVidia card; whereas ATI mobile card is normally choppy ..yeah very very choppy. Go play Age of Mythology, you will see how sucky ATI mobile card is. But then again, if it is the video card issue with ATI, I think I will wait for a newer driver.

Cheers,

Thunder
