Boffa Jones Veteran Posted June 25, 2007 Veteran Share Posted June 25, 2007 Hey there, whenever I try to subscribe to an RSS it either brings me to a page of ****ed up text or it subscribes with the Opera reader. I would rather just use the Google Reader so I was wondering if there was a way to bypass it? Also, I am forced to do all of my torrents in IE because it wont give me the option to open torrents in anything but opera if I do it through the browser. Any suggestions? Any suggestions? Sounds like you need to associate .torrent files with the application you want to open them with. The ****ed up text, as you put it, is the .xml file which is the entire backend to RSS. You just need to find the URL of the RSS feed and add that to your RSS reader. You could also consider using utorrent for downloading via RSS, it has a built in RSS/auto download system.
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted June 25, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted June 25, 2007 You need to disable operas internal torrent client by typing opera:config in the address bar and searching for torrent, then disable it. As for the rss problem, afaik there is no way to change how the rss icon in the address bar handles feeds so I think you might just have to manually right click on the rss feed and copy/paste it into google reader. There might be a way to use a bookmarklet, userjs or menu entry to fix the issue but off the top of my head I can't remember seeing anything like that (although to be fair I haven't really used opera a whole lot for about 6 months so things might have changed)

halcyoncmdr
Choosing the RSS rader is one of the things that should easily be adjusted by the user. Torrents you can also set spercific options in the Preferences > Advanced > Downloads section and searching for torrent. There you have settings for sending the url directly to the torrent program as well, etc. But taht reader.js file seems a nice workaround :)
