Did you install ndiswrapper from a binary or did you compile it yourself? I've only had to use ndiswrapper once and the binary never worked and I ended up having to compile it myself, which did work. You have the linux-headers for your kernel installed, right?

im not quite sure what the difference is. i downloaded the file and installed it with terminal and i also installed the gui

if the update contains the linux-headers then yes

The binary would be a .deb. If you compiled and installed it yourself from the .tgz then you're fine. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you installed the gui and what update?

  • 1 year later...

Hey im having the exact same problem. My kernel version is 2.6.18 on debian and after installing the driver on ndiswrapper i get no wireless extension on eht0. When i use ndiswrapper -l it shows that the driver is installed and the shows the device. I followed the instructions and such so if anybody could figure this out i would grealty apreciate it.
