Changing toaster click action for completed downloads?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how I can go about this? Maybe an Addon exists that does this.

Did a quick Google and came up with nothing.

Using Fx 2.0.0.5

I assume its the "action" that is performed when you click a "toast" (small popup in the corner of the screen that is usually used to notify you of things such as completed downloads).

I dont know of any, sorry :ninja:

Looks like English to me. Capitalization, punctuation, and everything. :/

Ok, haha! very funy. What I meant (you already knew this) is put it into typical tech jargon. I mean what the heck is a toaster click action. How are you we suposed to know what aitoaster click action is? I use FF and there is no such thing in it!

Yeah, it's a bit retarded my lingo :\

What I'm talking about is the popup in the bottom left that appears when a download is complete (these are usually called toaster popups). Clicking it usually opens the Firefox "Downloads" window, but I want to have the option of either opening the download or opening the download directory directly.

It's a little thing but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

No, I think you're confused. There's just a small error; he should have said Toast instead of Toaster. Click action is fine, its what happens when you click the toast. Anyway, I was just pointing out that it was a bit feeble of you to poke fun at something completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

And yes, it is more appropriately called a toast notification due to the way it slides upwards (or downwards, depending on where your taskbar is), ala MSN Messenger-style notifications. It isn't a balloon notification, those typically are yellow, rounded, fade into view, and have this stupid little speech arrow thing on them.

And I don't believe there currently is a way to change the action of the notification link; you may need to open up browser.jar or toolkit.jar and poke around at the contents to find out where this information is stored.

Go to your location bar and type about:config Hit ENTER.

Scroll down the list till you find:

browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete

Double click it to change the value from TRUE to FALSE.

I believe that's what you want.
